Nadia Rayne (ナーディア・レイン), also known as Nine of Swords (ソードの9(ナイン・オブ・ソーズ)) or Nine (ナイン), is the female protagonist of the 영웅전설 섬의 궤적 IV novel series, Three & Nine.

Introduction

A former assassin skilled in mid-to-long range combat, her wide variety of weapons secured within her oversized plush bear. On the surface, she comes across as languid and lacking in motivation, but in reality, she possesses incredible analytical abilities and can easily deceive opponents with her cute looks and acting talents. While on the run from the organization, she and Swin received a request from a certain individual to transport a mysterious suitcase.

A former assassin who escaped from the Gardens with Swin. Her weapons of choice are a set of specially-made needles and an army of explosive-stuffed teddy bears. As her intuition and abilities of both prediction and calculation far exceed those of an average individual, Nadia is capable of analyzing combat situations to determine her enemies' weaknesses. However, because doing so tends to burn her out rather quickly, she takes every opportunity outside of battle to slack off. Her selfish behavior and the spoiled attitude she takes with Swin tend to distract from the fact that, in truth, she's actually far more of an untrusting realist than Swin is. Aware as she is that Swin is, deep down, the more kindhearted of the two, Nadia strives to support him by acting as the cunning member of their pair when they come into contact with the more nefarious parts of their job. Like Swin, she has also made a number of new friends since the events in Crossbell, and is currently attempting to make a new life for herself.

A former child assassin and Swin's partner. In combat, she wields a plushie named 'Baron Bear,' who she's so-surreptitiously stuffed with not only needles, but an assortment of other weapons as well. Despite her passion for lazing around and girlish infatuation with Swin, Nadia is actually quite the cool-headed realist. Concerned with Swin's safety above all else, she aids him on the sly with her exceptional expertise in calculation and information analysis, plus a general distrust of others. Expertise in information analysis and exceptional calculation abilities quite often in order to aid him—though very few are actually aware of this fact. After meeting up with Kevin Graham, her keen intuition—honed during her time as a contract killer—has her wary of his each and every move...

Appearance

Nadia is a girl with wavy pink hair arranged into twin tails and mint blue eyes. She wears a sleeveless pink and white lacy top with a high collar and a blue cravat. She has a ruffled tartan skirt, detached ruffled sleeves, black thigh high stockings with a ornamental V shaped pattern at the edge and brown leather boots. Two cotton ball like ornaments are in her hair along with some ribbon. A hair pin resembling the number '9' is present in her hair. Nadia carries around a large stuffed bear with a cape and top hat, which is filled with poisonous needles and wires, her weaponry of choice.

In her older, Calvard appearance, Nadia has updated her original outfit. Keeping the same top, she has added two translucent black sleeves with a lacy floral pattern. She replaces the skirt with a shorter, brighter pink version and now wears black thigh high boots. Nadia now has thick twin tails and has braided the top section, whilst keeping them in place with two black ornaments resembling 9s.

Personality

Nadia is a seemingly cheery and laid-back individual, with a penchant for taking in the sights while traveling and napping. However, the aforementioned belies an extremely intelligent and analytical individual. Nadia is able to quickly analyze a situation or person, even from just sound. She is an excellent actor and can convincingly play a number of role to feign allegiances. She has a small sadist streak, having threatened targets with talk of horrific torture in order to get information.

Certain stimuli can trigger a trance-like state in which she becomes laser-focused at carrying out assassinations (such as seeing Rixia perform). Before meeting Swin Abel, Nadia was plagued with nightmares about her past and assassination work, and was unable to sleep. With Swin, she can finally rest easy and is devoted to working with him as his partner, knowing him extremely well. Nadia has show had developed crush on Swin during their time together and like to teese him and instiuating that they were a couple.

Nadia gets along well with C and especially Lapis, assuming the role of big sister for the latter. She goes out of her way to teach and tease Lapis in equal measure, and while initially distrustful of C, she grows to genuinely trust and appreciate his presence in her life. Above all else, Nadia deeply cherishes her bonds with her newfound companions, and wants nothing more than to spend as much time with them.

Nadia also like give nicknames to the people she likes such calling Swin by the initials S calling Lapis LP and Agnes Aggie
