【기술】“우주 계획”의 비전

1단계인 위성 발사에 무사히 성공하며 순조롭게 시작한 《스타 테이커 계획》. 지금도 2단계 준비가 일사천리로 진행 중이라고 하는데, 공화국 국민으로서 이러한 위업 달성에 흥분을 금할 수 없다. 이번 기회에 다시 한번 계획의 개요와 “우주”라는 개념을 되짚어 보도록 하자.

◆우주란 무엇인가?◆

저 멀리 하늘 위 대기권 바깥에 펼쳐진 여신의 성스러운 기적의 영역. 그 끝이 어디인지도 알 수 없다. 알려진 것은 이 대륙의 하늘을 덮고 있다는 것, 그 끝없는 공간에 수많은 별과 달, 태양이 떠 있다는 것뿐이다. 이론상으로는 고속으로 중력을 이기고 대기권을 돌파하면 이곳에 도달할 수 있다고 한다.

계획의 첫 번째 목표는 통신 관측 위성을 상공에 띄워 광범위한 지상 관측과, 통신 도력파 중계를 실현하는 것이다. 전자는 동제무리아의 환경 문제를 보다 면밀히 조사하는 데 활용될 것으로 기대된다. 후자를 통해서는 도력넷 효율화와 변경 지역의 통신 인프라 보급이 가능해질 것이다.

글램하트 대통령의 출신지로도 유명한, 수도 남쪽의 중간 규모 도시입니다. 랭포트와 살바드 양쪽으로 향하는 철도 노선이 있어 입지가 좋습니다. 최근에는 동방계와 중동계 자본가들이 수도 진출의 발판으로 활발히 투자하고 있으며, 많은 점포와 시설이 진출해 살기도 좋아졌습니다. 또한 한때 치안 문제가 있었으나 현재는 안정되었다고 합니다. 여러모로 장래가 유망한 도시라 할 수 있겠습니다.

Speaking as a proud citizen of the Republic, I cannot contain my palpable excitement over this monumental achievement. For those unaware of the general concept of space, allow us to elucidate you on the subject, dear reader.

◆What IS Space, Anyway?◆
