디터 대통령의 독립 선언 후 벌써 한 달. 독립 당초의 국내 혼란도 서서히 완화되고 있다. 딱 한 달이 지난 시점에 크로스벨의 새 체제를 되돌아본다.
◆파란의 독립◆
독립 선언 직후에 이를 완전 부정한 제국과 공화국은 최후통첩으로 ２４시간 후, 크로스벨 영토로 진군했다. 제국군의 중전차 사단은 벨가드 문을 공화국의 정예 공정 기갑사단은 탱그램 문을 각각 돌파해 크로스벨시로 침공했다.

그러나 독립국 정부가 보유한 최신예 인형병기──통칭「신기」가 이를 저지했다. 크로스벨 시가지를 노린 갈레리아 요새의 잔혹한 열차포 또한 신기로 완전히 무력화시켰다.
◆독립국의 안전을 보장하는 신병기◆
국방군은 크로스벨의 자치권 및 중립성을 지키기 위해 강력한 도력파를 이용한 방위병기를 운용. 크로스벨시 주위에 특수한 장벽을 전개했다. 이로 인해 어떠한 외적 공격이 와도 크로스벨 시민을 지킬 수 있다고 한다.

하지만 국방군의 통행허가는 시간이 걸려 외곽 마을은 모른 체를 하느냐는 신랄한 의견도 있어 당 통신사도 질문을 했지만 군 및 독립국 정부의 정식 답변을 듣지 못했다.
◆대륙 국제 연합, 성립을 위한 로드맵◆
얼마 전 독립국 정부는 정식으로 대륙 국제 연합 성립을 위한 로드맵을 발표. 현시점에 가맹을 표명한 국가와 지역은 ４개국이라고 밝히고 수개월 이내에 초기 가맹국과 조인하고 싶다고 밝혔다.
전쟁 행위의 완전금지, 자유로운 경제활동 보장을 내세운 이 틀은 현시점에선 거의 순조롭게 시작했다고 할 수 있겠다.
◆속보, 각국의 반응은◆
아르테리아 법국은 크로스벨 독립 후, 처음으로 담화를 발표. 서 제무리아의 사태를 주의 깊게 지켜보겠다고 했다.
리벨 왕국 및 레미페리아 공국도 크로스벨의 민의를 존중한다며 「사실상 크로스벨 독립국을 승인했다」(독립국홍보관) 사태는 안정화되고 있다고 봐도 좋을 듯하다.
【경제】칼바드 공화국, 계속되는 경제 공황
칼바드 공화국 정부는 연이어 금융 정책을 발표했으나 대손이 끊이지 않아 경제 공황은 악화 일로를 걷고 있다. 이미 공화국에 적을 둔 국제 기업에도 영향이 확대되고 있다. 또 어제 미명엔 버스 폭파 테러가 발생해 다수의 중상자를 냈다고 한다.
【국제】에레보니아 제국 내전, 전면 항쟁 양상
일전에 영수인 《철혈재상》 길리아스 오스본 씨가 총탄에 쓰러진 제국 혁신파는 다시 철저한 항전을 선언해 귀족파와의 내전이 더욱 심각해지고 있다. 제도에선 화를 면하려는 사람들이 줄을 서고 있다고 한다. 속보가 들어 오는 대로 전하겠다.
【사회】국방군, 매점 규제 검토
계속되는 식료품과 일용품의 사재기 행위에 대해 크로스벨 국방군은 시내에는 충분한 물자가 유통되고 있으니 불필요한 행위를 하지 말라고 호소했다. 독립국 정부는 ５년분 식량 및 일용품을 비축했으며 이미 대형 식료품점에서 유통을 시작했다.
국방군은 혼란이 이어질 경우 사재기 규제를 검토할 방침이라 한다.

[Featured Story] A Month in Review: Crossbell's Independence
◆A Month of Revolution◆
As we pass the one-month anniversary of President Crois' declaration of independence, the initial tide of confusion is just now beginning to subside. We'd like to take some time and examine the changes brought about by Crossbell's leadership over this past month.
◆Volatile Independence◆
Immediately following the declaration, the Imperial and Republican governments denounced Crossbell's independence. After waiting out a 24-hour ultimatum, both nations advanced their armies into Crossbell. The Empire's armored divisions forced their way through Bellguard Gate, and the Republic's airborne armored division made way for their ground forces. Both armies then moved to invade Crossbell City.

However, both advances were stopped by the Aions, cutting-edge archaisms under the command of the newly independent state. The Empire even aimed its railway guns mounted in Garrelia Fortress at Crossbell City. The guns, too, were neutralized by the Aions' might.
◆New State Defense Weapons Deployed◆
In order to protect Crossbell's autonomy and peace, the Defense Force has deployed a new defensive mechanism that uses powerful orbal waves to create a protective barrier around Crossbell City. Officials say that it will defend the people of the city from any potential attack.

Not everyone is happy about the new defense mechanism, though. Some are concerned that travel will take longer thanks to the Defense Force's permit system. Others are concerned that the outlying towns are being left defenseless outside the barrier. Neither the Defense Force nor the state government elected to answer our questions on either topic.
◆Roadmap to the United Nations◆
A few days ago, the independent state government announced its plan to form a continental alliance. Four countries have already agreed to join. The initial members of the United Nations will sign on to the alliance in the next few months.
Thanks to its promises of prohibiting all acts of war and guaranteeing open international trade, the prospective partnership has garnered a favorable public opinion.
◆The International Reaction◆
The Holy City of Arteria has made its first official statement following Crossbell's independence. The papacy simply stated it would continue to monitor the situation in western Zemuria closely.
The Liberl Kingdom and Principality of Remiferia have both decided to side with the will of the people. 'Crossbell's independence is to be recognized as a statement of fact, not opinion,' explained a Remiferian public relations official.
[Finance] Calvard's Economic Panic Continues
The Republican government has issued a series of financial reforms, but as borrowers continue to default on their loans, the economic turmoil in the country continues to escalate. International companies operating out of Calvard have also begun to feel the effects of the recession. Furthermore, many civilians were harmed in a reactionary bus bombing just yesterday morning.
[Intl.] The Erebonian Civil War: An All-Out Conflict
The Blood and Iron Chancellor, 길리아스 오스본, has been shot by an assassin. The Noble Faction has claimed responsibility for the murder and pledged to continue their crusade to the bitter end. Given this, It would seem their conflict with the Reformist Faction, the conflict central to the civil war itself, won't be over any time soon.
As a result of these events, droves of Imperial citizens are trying to flee the country and escape the flames of war. We will continue reporting on this story as more information comes in.
[Society] Defense Force Considers Hoarding Restrictions
In response to citizens' continued efforts to stockpile groceries and daily necessities, the Crossbell Defense Force has begun distributing goods within the city and ask that citizens not hoard their goods without reason. The government says it has a store of food and supplies that will last for five years. The goods will be distributed to local grocery stores.
The Defense Force is considering regulating private stockpiles in the event that confusion around the issue doesn't dissipate.
