【사회】끌레이유 마을 기금, 결실 거둬

작년 11월에, 사상 최악의 테러 행위로 거의 모든 주민이 목숨을 잃은 비극을 겪은 끌레이유 마을. 지금도 군에 의한 봉쇄가 계속되고 있어 희생자 가족이 추모를 위해 방문조차 할 수 없는 상황이다. 하지만 그런 끌레이유 마을에 작지만, 희망을 주는 소식이 들어왔다. 끌레이유 마을에 대해서는 작년부터 여러 단체와 기업이 협력하여 위령과 마을 재건을 목적으로 한 기금 활동이 이뤄져 이미 기금이 목표액을 달성했다고 한다.

그리고 목표액은 달성됐으나, 앞으로도 끌레이유 마을을 위한 활동은 계속될 전망이다. 베가스 필름과 가우룽 영상에서 공동 제작 중인 영화도 매출액 일부를 기부하기로 당초부터 예정되어 있었으며 방침에 변경은 없다고 한다. 이 기금으로 모인 미라는 주로 끌레이유 마을 주민의 가족에 대한 기부나 위령 시설 건설, 마을과 함께 사라진 특산품 산업의 재흥 등에 충당되면서, 언젠가 봉쇄 해제 후에 마을을 재건하는 것도 목표로 하여 적립된다.

마을 재건에 대해서는 갈 길이 멀지만, 희생된 주민들의 가족과 관계자 중에는 봉쇄가 해제되면 끌레이유 마을을 재건해 마을 사람들의 유지를 이을 수 있을 거라고 믿는 사람도 많다고 한다.

아슬란 선수는 최종 레이스를 앞두고 「저 자신도 한 달 동안 열심히 했지만, 그 이상으로 정비팀 분들의 노력으로 머신이 최고의 상태로 완성되었습니다. 또한 팬분들께서도 응원해 주셔서 무척 격려가 되었습니다. 최종 레이스에서는 그분들의 기대에 반드시 보답하겠습니다」라고 포부를 밝혔다.

【칼럼】공화국의 심벌 “하얀 클로브”의 역사

3월도 중순에 접어들고, 올해도 여느 해처럼 곳곳에 하얀 클로브 꽃이 개화하기 시작했다. 수도에서는 이미 넓은 범위에서 반쯤 핀 모습이 보여, 이달 말에는 만개할 것이다. 우리 나라만의 봄 풍경이다. 그런 하얀 클로브 꽃은 단순히 계절 꽃이 아니라 다양한 의미로 우리 나라를 상징하는 국화이기도 하다. 칼럼에서는 그 문화적 측면과 역사적 경위에 대해 해설한다.

우선 이 꽃은 공화국, 특히 수도에서는 낯익은 존재이지만, 사실 제무리아 대륙 중에서도 거의 공화국 영내에만 자생하는 고유종이다. 그래서 칼바드에서는 예로부터 사랑받아 왔다. 공화국 국가도 「화이트 클로브의 맹세」이며, 그야말로 이 나라의 상징으로 알려져 있다.

“클로브”는 대륙 남동부의 열대 지역에 기원이 있는 식물이며, 칼바드가 위치한 대륙 중서부에는 원래 존재하지 않았다. 하지만 왕국 시대부터 향신료로서 수요가 있었기에 동방의 구 황국과의 교역으로 반입된 것이다. 그런 가운데, 원산지와는 전혀 다른 환경임에도 불구하고 기적적으로 칼바드에 뿌리내리고 적응한 것이 이유인지 흰색 꽃잎을 가진 변종── 그것이 칼바드 고유종 하얀 클로브다.

이 꽃은 아름다우면서 고유종이기도 해 구왕국 시대 때부터 나라를 상징하는 꽃으로 친숙하며 왕후 귀족에게도 사랑받았다. 하지만 혁명기에 들어 이 꽃은 “새로운 의미”를 갖게 된다. 그것은 「다양성과 융화의 상징」으로서의 하얀 클로브다. 대륙 남동부 원산의 식물이 대륙 서부에서도 칼바드에만 기적적으로 뿌리내리고, 나아가 이 땅의 환경과 융화하듯이 그 색을 바꾸어 갔다… 이 사실을, 많은 민족을 받아들이고 공생하는 것과 겹쳐 보는 사람들이 많았던 것이다.

칼바드 공화국의 문장에 하얀 클로브가 장식된 것은 국가와 모티브를 맞췄다는 이유 외에도 새로운 시대를 함께 살아간다는 이상이 담겨 있기 때문이다.

[National] Investments in Creil Village Show Signs of Success

In November of last year, the majority of Creil Village's residents lost their lives in the worst act of terrorism in recorded history. In the wake of that tragedy, the military sealed off the remains of the village, refusing to permit even the families of the attack's victims to enter for funeral purposes. Grim though the state of affairs in Creil may be, recent reports have shone a ray of hope upon the situation.
As early as last year, multiple groups and businesses began collaborating to fundraise for Creil's sake, hoping to lay the spirits of the dead to rest and eventually rebuild the town. Recently, those efforts have hit their fundraising goal.
Although the necessary funds have been gathered, the fundraising collective is expected to continue to actively work toward the rebuilding of Creil. Representatives of the joint film currently in production between Vegas Films and Kowloon Pictures also promised to donate a portion of the picture's profits toward the town and have recently reaffirmed their intent to honor that pledge. The majority of the mira collected will be donated to the families of Creil residents, used to construct a monument to the victims of the attack, fund efforts to restore the unique local industries that were lost along with the village, and eventually contribute to the reconstruction of the village itself once the blockade has been lifted. It seems clear that the road to reconstruction will be a long one, but the prevailing sentiment among friends and family of the victims is one of hope. When the blockade is lifted, they believe, Creil Village will be rebuilt and the wills of those who lost their lives will carry on.

[Culture] Who Will Claim the Z1 Finals Trophy?

At long last, the final race of the Z1 Grand Prix is scheduled to take place tomorrow. Racing fans from far and wide will gather in the Grand Circuit to see who will become this year's reigning champion.
The victor of last month's exhibition race was Maxim, with Aslan coming in second.
We spoke with Aslan about the upcoming Grand Prix finals, and he had this to say: 'I've spent the past month training, training, and training some more. But if not for the efforts of my mechanics—who have tuned my car to perfection time and again—and the undying support from my fans, I wouldn't be standing here today, I intend to live up to their expectations, so for this final race, I'm going full throttle.'
Maxim, meanwhile, is equally determined to win this upcoming race. 'I have a fourth consecutive championship to win, and I WILL win it, no matter what it takes. Now more than ever, I've got people who believe in me, and I'm not about to let them down,' he declared with bolstering confidence.

Leno in particular has suffered from poor showings in the past several Z1 Grand Prix races, and it has high hopes to restore its good name through this year's championship. According to a company representative, 'Our team will be racing with the prestige of our whole company on its shoulders. We intend to restore our reputation through this race, and then some.'

[Politics] Young Republican Party Senator Ryan Takes Podium at Debate

A political debate sponsored by the International Cooperative Organization NGO and scheduled to occur on the 22nd of this month has drawn attention to both the ruling and opposing parties of the Republic. The topic of the debate is about the role the Republic plays on the international stage. It's likely the ICO's intent is to determine the position the Republic may take in the affairs of Zemuria as a whole.
The current ruling party, the Patriot League, has already announced that President Gramheart will participate in the debate.
The opposing Republican Party, meanwhile, will be sending Ryan Connery, a young senator who has drawn considerable attention over the past several years. Although Senator Ryan is part of a minor faction within the Republican Party, his talent for planning and adaptability have led many members of the party, including former president Rocksmith, to place their hopes in him.
Senator Ryan was kind enough to agree to an interview with us, where, on the subject of the debate two days from now, he had this to say: 'Speaking as someone who can hardly be called part of the political mainstream, I must admit that being asked to debate the president was rather intimidating. That said, I have every intention of tackling the debate in good faith and arguing my case to the best of my abilities.
My hope is both to present a case for how I believe our Republic should wield its influence in the political landscape of Zemuria and also to press President Gramheart regarding a number of aspects of his own vision for our nation. I believe that this debate is about more than just matters of international policy—it concerns the very future of the Republic itself, and I intend to treat it accordingly.' Although a member of the Republican Party, Senator Ryan is clearly a man with his own unique set of deeply held convictions. The question is, what impact will those convictions have upon the political landscape of the Republic as he steps forward onto his largest stage yet?

[Opinion] The History of the White Clove, Symbol of the Republic

As we approach the halfway point of March, the white cloves have once again begun to bloom all across the Republic, as they do every year, and we can expect them to be in full bloom by the end of the month. They are a symbol of spring in our nation for a good reason. The flowers of the white clove, however, are more than just a sign of the changing seasons. They symbolize a great many things for Calvard, and it is that symbolic value which led to the white clove to be selected as our national flower. In this column, I hope to explain to you some of the cultural and historical factors that make the white cloves so significant.
To start, while the white clove is a common sight throughout the Republic—and the capital in particular—it is an endemic species that grows virtually nowhere else throughout Zemuria. Moreover, it is a flower that's been beloved by the people of Calvard since far back in our nation's history. The Republic's national anthem is even titled 'Swear on the White Cloves,' demonstrating just how integral a symbol of our nation they truly are.
Cloves themselves trace their origin to the continent's southeastern tropics and were not initially present in the mid-western region that Calvard came to occupy. That said, due to high demand for them as a spice during the monarchy era, they were often imported from an old Eastern empire. It was during that period that, seemingly miraculously, cloves took root in Calvard soil despire the local environment being entirely unlike that of their native land. Those cloves soon adapted to local conditions, and so the white clove—a subspecies unique to Calvard—was born.
The white cloves' beauty and their presence throughout this land were what led its flowers to be beloved by the royalty and adopted as a symbol of the old kingdom. Over the course of the Calvardian Revolution, however, the flower took a new symbolic meaning.
In the modern era, the white clove represents peace and harmony through diversity. After all, the white clove is a plant from the southeast that miraculously took root in the West, changing the color of its blossoms to live in harmony with its new environment. As a result, many people have taken to viewing the white clove as being much like the many people of varying ethnicities who coexist within our nation.
The white clove, symbol of the Calvard Republic, is more than just a lyric and a motif. It is a symbol of the ideals that drive us forward into the modern era together.

社会】クレイユ村基金、実りを見せる

昨年11月、史上最悪のテロ行為によって住民のほぼ全員が 命を落とす悲劇に見舞われたクレイユ村。現在でも軍による封 鎖が続いており、犠牲者の親族が弔いのために訪れる事すら叶 わない状況だ。 しかし、そんなクレイユ村を巡って、ささやかながら希望を 抱かせる一報が入った。 クレイユ村に対しては昨年より複数の団体や企業が協力し、 慰霊や村の再建を目的とした基金活動が行われてきたが、遂に 基金が目標額に達したのだという。 そして、目標額は達成されたが、今後も引き続きクレイユ村 のための活動は継続される見込みだ。九龍映像とベガスフィル ムで共同制作中の映画も、売上金の一部を寄付する事が当初より予定されていたが、方針に変更はないという。 当基金にて集められたミラは主に、クレイユ村住民の親族へ の寄付や慰霊施設の建設、村と共に失われた特産品産業の再興 などに充てられつつ、いずれは封鎖解除後に村を再建する事も 目標に積み立てられていく。村の再建については道のりが長い が、犠牲となった住民の親族や関係者の中には、いつの日か封 鎖が解除された時に、その地に新たなクレイユ村を再建して、 村民たちの遺志を継ぐ事が出来ると信じている者も多いという。

【文化面】Z1最終レース迫る、トロフィーは誰の手に!?

いよいよ今年度のZ1グランプリ、その決勝戦が明日に迫っ ている。果たして、今年の王者は誰になるのか、熱い視線がグ ランサーキットに集まっている。 先月行われたエキシビジョンレースでは、マクシム選手が優 勝し、アスラン選手は2位となった。 アスラン選手は最終レースを前に「僕自身もこの一ヶ月の間、 練習を重ねました。しかし、それ以上にメカニックの皆さんが マシンを最高の状態に仕上げてくれています。また、ファンの 皆さんからの応援の声も、この上ない励みになっています。僕 は、そうした方々の気持ちに応えるためにも改めて優勝を目指 すつもりです」と意気込みを語った。 対するマクシム選手もまた、「4年度連続の優勝を必ず手に する。今の僕には、これまで以上に期待の眼差しを向けてくれ ている人がいる。それに応えないと男が廃る」と必勝を宣言。 果たして、王冠はどちらの手に渡るのだろうか。 なお、優勝候補の選手の所属もありエトワスとインゲルトの2チームに注目が行きがちだが、レッドスターとレノも強い意 気込みを以てレースに臨んでいる事は言うまでもない。 特にZ1グランプリにおいて、ここ数年連続で不調であった レノは、今年こそ挽回を成し遂げるという強い意志を見せてい る。担当者は、「我が社・我がチームの威信をかけた聖戦。こ れまでの汚名を必ずや返上してみせる。」と自信を見せた。

【政治】政治討論会、共和党は若手のライアン議員を論壇に

今月22日、NGO法人・国際協力機構の主催で開催される 政治討論会に際して、与野党の動きに注目が集まっている。 テーマは「国際社会における共和国の果たす役割」であり、 NGOの立場から、共和国のゼムリア大陸における立ち位置を 彼らなりに見極める意図もありそうだ。 与党《愛国同盟》からは既に、グラムハート大統領が自ら論 壇に立つ事が発表されている。 対して野党第一党の共和党》からは、若手議員として近年 注目を集めているライアン・コネリー氏が論壇に上がるようだ。 ライアン氏は共和党内では非主流派とされるが、その柔軟な対 応能力や立案能力から、ロックスミス前大統領を初めとする党 の重鎮の一部から将来を有望視されている人物だ。 そんなライアン議員は本誌のインタビューを受け、二日後に 控える政治討論会について以下のように語った。

【コラム】 共和国のシンボル “白いクローブ” の歴史

3月も中旬に差し掛かり、今年も例年通りに各所で白いクローブの花が開花し始めた。首都では既に、広い範囲で二分咲き の様子が見られ、今月下旬には共和国北部の地域でも開花が始 まる見込みである。我が国における春の風物詩だ。 そんな白いクローブの花は、単純に季節の花というだけではなく、様々な意味で我が国を象徴する国花でもある。本コラム では、その文化的側面や歴史的経緯について解説する。 まず、この花は共和国でこそ見慣れた存在だが、実はゼムリ ア大陸の中でも、ほぼ共和国領内にしか自生していない固有種 である。そして、カルバードにおいては白いクローブは古くか ら親しまれてきた存在だ。共和国の国歌もずばり「ホワイトクローブの誓い」であり、この国の象徴として親しまれている。 そもそも、 “クローブ"は本来、大陸南東部の熱帯地域に起 源を持つ植物で、カルバードが位置する大陸中西部に元々は存 在しないものだった。しかし、王国時代に香辛料としての需要 から、東方の旧皇国との交易で持ち込まれてきた経緯がある。 そんな中で、原産地とは全く違う環境であるにも関わらず、 奇跡的にカルバードの地に根付き、適応によって白い花弁の変 種が誕生―それが、カルバード固有種である白いクローブだ。 この花は、旧王国時代からその美しさに加え、固有種という 事もあり、国を象徴する花として親しまれ、王侯貴族にも愛で る者は多かった。しかし、革命期に入るとこの花は“新たな意 味”を見出されていく事になる。 それは、「多様性と融和の象徴」としての白いクローブだ。 大陸南東部原産の植物が、大陸西部にて奇跡的にカルバードの 地にのみ根付き、さらにはこの地の環境と融和するようにして その色を変えていった....この事実を、多くの民族を受け入れ、 共生していく事と重ねて見る人々が多かったのだ。 カルバード共和国の国章に白いクローブがあしらわれている のは国歌とモチーフを合わせるというだけでなく、新たな時代 を共に生きるという理想が込められているからなのだ。
