바젤

Basel (バーゼル), also known as Basel, the Engineering City (工学都市バーゼル), is a city in southwestern Calvard, located in the Auge Canyon.

Background

Basel is known for its traditional focus on natural sciences and the Basel College of Science, the local university and observatory. The city is jointly run by three parties, the Verne Company under CEO Bill Tausend, the Artisans' Guild, and the Basel Institute of Science. It is the greatest industrial city in the Republic.

In the Middle Ages, a guild of artisans helped with the development of equipment for architecture, irrigation, industry, and sciences. Following the Orbal Revolution, the guild and university established Verne. The older parts of Basel are based around Artisan's Street where 'New Town' sprung up around Verne. Basel has lots of manufacturing plants and special facilities

Basel is currently working on an urban planning project to transform Basel into a high-tech city, dedicated to industrial sciences, by connecting its districts on different height levels with roads. An aerotram runs from the Institute of Science to the lower levels. Due to the number of confidential research projects for the government and military, security around Basel is heightened, with any of the three three major stakeholders able to grant levels of access using card keys issued to citizens, ranging from clearance levels D to A.

Motor companies Leno and Ingert operate from Basel. Giscard is also working on a new factory for Red Star. Basel is the birthplace of orbal film. The pride of all Basel is the central terminal 'Aurora' located in the institute.

Trivia

• Basel is also one of the largest cities in Switzerland.
• Basel's most famous treat is the engadin, a simple tart stuffed with walnuts and honey nougat. It is noted to have unrivalled richness by Van Arkride.
