Introduction
One of the three executives of Almata, the mafia that has been making suspicious moves around the Republic. He was formerly working for a different group before Almata's boss noticed his track record (and his helpful attitude didn't hurt). Once in Almata, he rose in the ranks quickly. He enjoys using huge knives and an arsenal of specially-loaded bombs to psychologically and physically devastate his enemies. He executes acts of sabotage, assassination, and demolition up and down the Republic to fill the country with the terror his boss hungers for...[1]
Appearance
Melchior is a young man with red eyes and bright turquoise hair. He often stands and moves with a slumped posture. He wears a white shirt with a blue cross pattern and large hoop zippers, along with gray trousers with several belts. Melchior wears a long sleeveless black shirt over this. He wields a small red knife with a curved shape resembling something between a dagger and a boomerang.
Personality
Melchior is devoted to his boss's ambitions and ideology of bringing fear to the republic. He is quite jovial and manipulative whilst also displaying savagery. Melchior holds very little consideration for morals or compassion, willingly manipulating people based upon their insecurities and aiming to hurt people in the most acute way he can. He gets angry when his attempts to play with others' lives are foiled and uses murder as a first resort.
He is skilled in the use of large knives and bombs with different effects, as well as vicious combat techniques that crush his opponent’s body and mind. He seems to be taking on erratic missions, including manipulation, assassination, and sabotage, all in the name of fulfilling the boss’ wish of bringing 'fear' to the Republic.[2]
Trivia
- Melchior was purportedly one of the Biblical Magi along with Caspar and Balthazar who visited the infant Jesus after he was born.
- Melchior's knife bears the inscription "Terror must be the Greatest Love".
- His Demon Form's title in Japanese, "Madness of Avici", is a reference to the Buddhist hell where the worst sinners are punished (and the only hell in Buddhism which is eternal).
- In a sidequest in Oracion, he seems to go out-of-character by tying Lucio to a bomb that is a fake and playing a quiz game with Van. Van is visibly weirded out by that.
- Melchoir states he loves Gerard Dantès, with Dingo Brad deducing it was possible he and Dantès were in a relationship.
