차이스 지방의 연속 지진이 드디어 종식을 맞이했다. 지난 호에서 속보로 전한 볼프 요새 지진을 시작으로 차이스시, 생트하임 문, 레이스톤 요새 등을 거치면서 점차 강도가 커지던 지진에 많은 시민들이 불안에 떨었다.
◆갑작스러운 “안전 선언”◆

그러나 레이스톤 요새 지진 이후 얼마 지나지 않아 중앙 공방의 머독 공방장 명의로 “안전 선언”이 공표되었다. 갑작스러운 발표에 당황한 시민도 있었지만, 실제로 그 이후 지진은 발생하지 않았다. 어떻게 이토록 빠른 안전 선언이 가능했던 것일까. 머독 공방장은 「특수한 요인으로 일어난 지진임이 밝혀졌기 때문」이라고 설명했다. 이번 지진은 지하의 칠요맥(자연에 존재하는 도력의 흐름)이 원인이며, 이를 분석함으로써 활동 종식을 정확히 예측할 수 있었다고 한다.
일단 지진의 위협은 사라졌지만 공방장이 안전 선언에서 「대비의 중요성」을 강조했듯이 재해는 언제 어디서 일어날지 알 수 없다. 이번 지진을 교훈 삼아 각 지역의 방재 시스템을 재정비할 필요가 있다.
【기술】신형 엔진 드디어 완성！
중앙 공방에서 개발 중이던 신형 도력기관이 마침내 완성되어 언론에 공개되었다. 신형 엔진은 순양함《아르세이유》를 위해 설계된 것으로, 기존 엔진보다 크게 향상된 출력과 야외에서도 수리가 가능한 뛰어난 정비성이 특징이다.
이 엔진을 탑재한 《아르세이유》의 순항 속도는 시속 3200세르쥬에 달하며, 이는 정기선 평균 속도의 4배에 해당한다. 물론 현존하는 비행선 중 가장 빠른 속도를 자랑한다.

앞면에서 소개한 신형 엔진의 샘플이 조인식 행사에서 제국·공화국 양측에 전달될 예정이다. 그런데 실은 이 제안이 조약 체결에도 중요한 역할을 했다는 후문이다.
차세대 비행선의 판도를 뒤바꿀 이 신형 엔진의 기술 제공이 양국에서 「평화의 결실」로 받아들여지면서 조약에 대한 긍정적인 평가로 이어졌다. 협상이 순조롭게 진행된 배경에는 그 영향이 컸다고 한다.

끓어오르는 엘모 온천
잇단 지진으로 많은 피해를 입은 차이스 지방. 차이스 남부에 위치한 엘모 마을에서도 온천수가 끓어오르는 기이한 현상이 발생했다. 해당 현상은 몇 시간 후에 자연적으로 가라앉았으나, 아직까지 그 원인은 밝혀지지 않았다. 주변 지역의 잇단 지진으로 인해 지하에서 어떤 이상이 발생한 것으로 추정된다.
온천을 조사한 유격사 협회에 따르면「일시적인 현상이며 재발 위험은 없다」(현지 지부 대표)고 한다. 지진과의 연관성에 대해서는 중앙 공방과 협력하여 계속 조사해 나갈 방침이다.

◆ Zeiss Stops Shaking◆
The earthquakes plaguing Zeiss have finally ended, it seems. The Wolf Fort incident mentioned in our previous edition was only the beginning. The City of Zeiss, Sanktheim Gate, and Leiston Fortress were all hit by quakes as well, causing distress in the region.
◆Sudden 'Declaration of Safety'◆
However, not long after the earthquake at Leiston Fortress, a declaration of safety was issued by the Central Factory's Chief 머독. Some concern was expressed at the statement, but as a practical matter there have been no earthquakes since. How such a declaration of safety is possible was explained by Chief 머독. 'We determined that the earthquakes were being caused by special circumstances,' he clarified. These earthquakes, it seems, were being caused by underground septium veins, and that after analysis it was possible to state accurately when they had ended. The declaration also emphasized disaster preparedness for future incidents, however.
[Technology] New Model Engine- Finally Complete!
The new model orbal engine from the Central Factory is at last completed and has been revealed to the press. This engine was specifically designed for the cruiser 'Arseille,' and has higher output, as well as streamlined maintenance for field repairs. The new engine will increase the Arseille's cruising speed to 3200 selge/hr, over 4x the speed of an airliner, making it the fastest ship in the world.

Samples of the new model engines referred to in our previous article are to be presented to both the Empire and Republic as tokens of the peace represented by this pact.
These engines are said to be the key to next-generation flight and such technological exchange is the promise made to those who promise to uphold the harmony between nations. Much is expected from Liberl's ace in negotiations.
[Society] Elmo Hot Springs Get Hot Hot Hot!
In the earthquake-struck Zeiss region, even Elmo Village felt the wrath of nature. Following a quake, their hot springs began boiling. The phenomenon ceased after a few hours, but it's thought to be related to some form of underground abnormality. After investigating, the Bracer Guild issued a statement that it was temporary with 'no likelihood of reoccurrence.' A possible connection to the quakes will be investigated by the Central Factory at a later date.
