Olivert was the first son of Erebonian Emperor Eugent Reise Arnor III and his first wife, Ariel Lenheim. Due to Ariel being a commoner, Eugent's desire to make her his Empress was met with backlash by the nobility. While under Ariel's care, Olivert met his lifelong companion and bodyguard, Mueller Vander, who was destined to care for the royal family as a Vander descendant.
To gain favor with the nobility's Four Great Houses, other noble families hired jaeger corps to assassinate Ariel and Olivert. Mueller's efforts saved Olivert's life, but couldn't save Ariel.
Eugent later married a noblewoman, Priscilla Reise Arnor, who became Olivert's adoptive mother. In S.1189, when Olivert was 12, Priscilla gave birth to the twins Alfin and Cedric. Cedric was named heir, as Olivert's commoner blood made him ineligible to accede the throne. Despite this, Olivert was not at all resentful and cherished his family.
At some point, Olivert adopted the persona of traveling bard and musician "Olivier Lenheim", the surname being a tribute to his biological mother. He would use this persona for the majority of his time in Liberl and involvement in foiling the Gospel Plan.

Though quite the troublemaker as a student, Olivert graduated top of his class at Thors Military Academy in S.1196-1197.[1][2] Olivert was trained in negotiation and strategizing by Mueller's uncle, Zechs Vander, which he also applied to romance.

Despite lacking a claim to the throne, Olivert sought to improve his country for its people. In S.1202, he learned of the growing danger that Chancellor Giliath Osborne presents, and sought Cassius Bright's help under the guise of an arranged marriage meeting between himself and Klaudia von Auslese, Crown Princess of Liberl. Mueller was active in the kingdom's Grancel embassy, at this time.
Before he could meet with Cassius, Olivert, under his Olivier Lenheim alter ego, found himself assisting Estelle Bright and her group with foiling the Gospel Plan. During this time, he developed a close friendship with Scherazard Harvey, who suspected him of being an Erebonian agent, but grew to trust him. She also proved to be a far better drinker than him. Olivert helped them capture the Capua sky bandits. Later, along with Zin Vathek, he helped Estelle and Joshua win a martial arts tournament in Grancel so they would be invited to a meeting with the queen. Due to Olivert's playful and often insensitive nature, Mueller (forcibly) kept the prince from attending.
He later assisted Estelle and Joshua's group in thwarting Alan Richard's coup d'etat.

A few months later, after Joshua's disappearance, Olivert heard Estelle was in Ruan and rushed to meet with her again, still concealing his identity as Olivier Lenheim. He rejoined her group to help stop the Gospel Plan, which Alan Richard's efforts were a precursor to. During this time, Olivert first met and formed a rivalry with Enforcer No. X of Ouroboros: the Phantom Thief Bleublanc. Like Olivert, Bleublanc held a flair for the dramatic and an esoteric view on the nature of beauty, albeit differently from Olivert's.
Following the Orbal Shutdown Phenomenon, during which all of Liberl and adjacent lands of Erebonia's Sutherland province to the north, Mueller's uncle Zechs Vander rode in from Parm by way of Titus Gate, with a fleet of steam-engine tanks immune to the orbal shutdown's effects. Olivert and Mueller arrived at the border front of Haken Gate to halt the invasion, buying time for Estelle's group to put an end to Ouroboros' schemes; this was a preliminary effort made under detection of Cassius Bright. During this parley, Olivier finally revealed his true identity to Estelle and her group: as a member of the Imperial family.
Olivert later helped with the invasion of the Liber Ark. If brought to the battle against Loewe, the latter will comment that he understands Olivert and Mueller have been investigating the Hamel Tragedy for the past year.
Afterwards, on request from Cassius, Olivert gets permission from an Imperial Army commander and Marquis Fernand Hyarms, Lord of Sutherland, for Estelle and Joshua to visit Hamel.

Olivert and Mueller were among those summoned by the Recluse Cube to Phantasma, helping them all escape.
During 별의 문 8 "제도로 귀환하는 길", a flashback shows he held a private chat with Giliath Osborne in the aftermath of the Liber Ark incident.
After learning of the machinations of Giliath Osborne back in his homeland of Erebonia, Olivert starts planning with Mueller to oppose the chancellor. They treat with Davil Crainagh, the Erebonian ambassador to Liberl, and obtain his support. Olivert plans to start in Liberl, using the Arseille to launch his campaign. Mueller cautions against Olivert’s flamboyant actions and arousing suspicion. This is immediately followed by the arrival of Osborne's secretary, Lechter Arundel. Knowing his competence and loyalty to the chancellor, the pair lament that they should have prepared for Lechter.
The following day, Olivert is granted audience at Grancel Castle with Queen Alicia von Auslese II and General Cassius Bright. The latter requests Olivert to earn permission for Estelle and Joshua Bright to visit Hamel. They discuss the chancellor's power play in sending steam-tanks to Liberl during the Orbal Shutdown Phenomenon, and mull over what can be done about Erebonia. Olivert consoles Princess Klaudia von Auslese about her leadership skills and encourages her actions. To the surprise of all, Giliath Osborne himself arrives in Grancel Castle for audience. He claims this was nothing more than a cordial visit, paying pleasantries with everyone on hand before requesting a one-on-one meeting with Olivert. Queen Alicia has a private room prepared for their discussion.
During their meeting, the chancellor claims he only visited because he had spare time before departing east for Crossbell, where he will participate in a confidential discussion with a representative of the Crossbellan government pertaining to an influx of funds flowing in through Republican channels. Olivert calls out the coincidental circumstances surrounding the various annexations Osborne has carried out in his ever-expanding pursuit of influence and power. Every time, the annexation process begins the same; a small nation or independent state faces an array of problems beyond repair, and as they worsen, jaegers and other dangerous elements enter, plummeting public order and causing local government to request help from the Imperial Army, after which the nation is inevitably absorbed into the Empire of Erebonia. Osborne downplays the pattern, calling it an inevitable consequence of the period of unprecedented growth and progress in which they live. Olivert counters by questioning why Imperial intelligence officers are visiting these countries well prior to their downfall. Osborne pivots, stating Olivert is a national hero due to his efforts in quashing the Liber Ark incident, and requests the prince's aid against the stagnant nobility, that together they might bring about true reform. Olivert questions the chancellor's link to Ouroboros, which Osborne doesn't deny, claiming he is willing to use every resource at his disposal. Ultimately, Olivert declines the chancellor's proposal, refusing to participate in what he considers an ever strengthening storm.
After the meeting, Mueller notices Olivier looks tired, and the prince wonders what sort of monster he's decided to pick a fight with.
Osborne and Lechter discuss their own moves on their way back to Erebonia, with Lechter stating he may not be loyal forever. An announcement interrupts them, signaling Olivert's passing on the high-speed Arseille airship. He then shoots a rose, scattering its petals: a gesture of defiance towards Osborne, who promptly accepts Olivert's challenge, stating he looks forward to seeing how long the prince can resist him.

Olivert attended the Crossbell 70th Anniversary Festival under his Olivier Lenheim disguise. He escaped Mueller's sight, causing the latter great irritation and leading him to request the SSS's help in finding his prince.
He would later attend the West Zemuria Trade Conference.

In March of S.1204, Olivert proposed the establishment of a new class at Thors Military Academy, made of youths from a mix of different social classes and genders. This was brought about by his experiences during the Liber Ark Incident in hopes of breathing new wind into Erebonia, which had become stagnant due to its caste system.
The Thors board of directors ultimately agreed with his proposal, and after a successful trial run consisting of four students—Towa Herschel, Crow Armbrust, Angelica Rogner and George Nome—the first Class VII was officially established.
Olivert also secretly created the Courageous, an enormous airship used to signify his desires to unite the country and put an end to the growing tensions between Chancellor Osborne and Governor Regnitz's Reformist Faction, and the Noble Alliance led by the Four Great Houses. Viscount Victor S. Arseid was named Captain of the Courageous. Olivert also became allied with Toval Randonneur during this time.
He would later attend the Thors Academy Festival.

After the Erebonian Civil War broke out due to the assassination of Osborne, Olivert had initially gone missing. He made a grand reappearance when he and the Courageous reappeared to save Rean Schwarzer and Princess Alfin from agents and associates of the Noble Alliance aboard the Pantagruel. There, he was reunited with Bleublanc. After saving Rean and his sister, Olivert, Claire Rieveldt, Victor S. Arseid, Sharon Kreuger, and Toval Randonneur all decide to turn their attention to West Erebonia where the war was raging more intensely, leaving the Courageous in Class VII's care. During this time, Olivert delivered quests to Rean by way of their orbal terminal.
Along with Toval, Olivert helped keep Bleublanc and Duvalie at bay so Class VII could proceed deeper into the Infernal Castle. At the end of the civil war, with victory assured for his faction, Osborne revealed himself to be alive.

After the civil war, due to the greatly diminished influence of the Erebonian nobility, Osborne had more control over the Empire than ever. His acts of power included the revocation of the Vander Family's guardianship over the Imperial family, reassigning Mueller to a military role. Olivert's political power was significantly weakened.
In a final attempt to thwart Osborne, Olivert proposed the foundation of Thors Branch Campus using the network of relationships he had built up through all his past adventures. Rean Schwarzer was named the instructor of New Class VII. Olivert and Victor continued to operate the Courageous during this time.
Olivert, donning his Olivier Lenheim disguise (despite everyone knowing it was him), helped Rean and his students during their field study in Crossbell. He helped fight off Campanella and McBurn and was upset to learn Rufus Albarea was holding the SSS in a metaphorical birdcage in Mishelam.
In the minutes before the outbreak of the Great Twilight, the Courageous—with Olivert, Victor and Toval aboard—approached the Gral of Erebos. On its approach, Osborne ordered Black Alberich to detonate the bombs George Nome had secretly placed on the airship. The Courageous was destroyed, leading to the death of everyone on board.

영웅전설 섬의 궤적 IV
Olivert revealed himself to be alive during a battle between Osborne's faction and that of Rean/Cassius aboard the Pantagruel. Aboard the Courageous II, a secretly built successor to the original airship, he intercepted the battle, turning the tides in Rean's favor. Olivert was working with Mueller, Vita Clotilde, and several staff/faculty from Thors Branch Campus, including Michael Irving, Scherazard Harvey, and even his longtime rival, Bleublanc. It was revealed Bleublanc saved Olivert and Toval after the Courageous exploded; although Victor also survived, he was brought under the influence of the curse on Osborne's side. Olivert did not survive the explosion unscathed; he lost sight in his left eye, wearing an eyepatch over it from then on.
To prevent the casualties that would inevitably follow, if the Great War between Operation Jormungandr (spearheaded by Osborne) and Operation Mille Mirage (spearheaded by Cassius Bright and Musse Egret) were to occur, Olivert created the Radiant Wings plan to stop the war as quickly as possible. His plan garnered support from the Bracer Guild, SSS and Class VII.
One day before the war began, Olivert met with Schera at Mishelam and proposed to her, which she accepted.
Olivert's Radiant Wings plan was successful. The masterminds behind the war, Osborne and Ishmelga, were killed. The latter's death caused the curse to dissipate, and the war was concluded in two days with minimal casualties. Olivert later worked alongside his sister Alfin to restore the people's trust in the royal family after it was revealed their brother Cedric had supported Osborne.
He later married Schera in a wedding attended by the many friends he had met during his travels.

During the preparations for his wedding with Schera, Olivert has a conversation with Zechs and Mueller about how Zechs trained him in negotiation skills and strategy, Olivert's plans to live in Alster or abroad, and the reinstatement of the Vanders as the protectors of the Imperial family. Olivert and Schera soon discover that the wedding dress has been stolen by Blueblanc, and the two go on a journey around the capital to reclaim it. They eventually end up at the Karel Imperial Villa, where Bleublanc returns the dress with his congratulations and a gift of his own.
Olivert and Schera disappear from the country in a chaotic series of events involving Supreme Leader Rufus Albarea taking over Crossbell and dissidents beginning to move in the capital. A mysterious masked figure, C, claims to be behind the kidnapping and directs Rean Schwarzer and his allies to Heimdallr to investigate.
Olivert was actually taken whilst onboard the Courageous II along with Schera and the rest of the crew and kept prisoner under a huge cloaking device in the Nord Highlands. Olivert had smuggled a pistol inside within his lute, however, and manages to retake the ship. They come under attack from automated tanks and Soldats but the Courageous is able to take off. A mysterious white Divine Knight looking figure teleports in and disables the ship, although Roselia and Zeit are able to save everyone onboard.
Olivert travels to Liberl where he gains the use of the Arseille II, disguising it as the Courageous II. This ship was developed in secret and therefore Elysium had no data on it, allowing them to use it to bypass the automated Zauber Soldats and breach the Retributive Tower. The ship comes under attack by the Retributive Tower's main weaponry but a group of Erebonia's strongest warriors is summoned to deflect the beam.
