Esmelas Tower (翡翠の塔) is one of the four mysterious towers in Liberl referred to as the Tetracyclic Towers (四輪(よんりん)の塔(とう)), situated in Rolent.

Background

Esmelas Tower is first visited by Estelle and Joshua on their first day as junior bracers, while rescuing Luke and Pat, two children from Rolent that entered the tower to play. Though successful, they have to be bailed out by their father, Cassius Bright.

The tower is fully explored when Estelle and Joshua are tasked with accompanying two journalists, Nial Burns and Dorothy Hyatt, to the roof of Esmelas Tower for photographies. There they meet a frightened Professor Alba (although he has to be called out of hiding by Joshua first), who explains the legend of the Sept-Terrions, the Aureole, and how the Tetracyclic Towers might relate to it.

At the bottom of the Sealed Area, Alan Richard uses the black orbment to seemingly release the Aureole. However, the result was the activation of the Device Towers and Reverie being released onto the party.

Background

Since the Queen's Anniversary, reports of phenomena atop the four towers started detailing strange lights. Kevin Graham had been investigating the towers by the time he meets Estelle in Bose, and he shares his findings with her and her group, in particular his theory about Ouroboros' actions in Liberl and their relation with the towers and the Aureole.

Altered Space

Background

After Estelle escapes the Glorious with Joshua's help, Georg Weissmann and Ouroboros' Enforcers head to the four towers to use the Gospel on them, while their ground forces cause chaos across Liberl. Thanks to the Arseille, Estelle is able to travel quickly between the towers to stop the Enforcers, with the first one being Esmelas Tower.

On arrival they found that the top of the tower was surrounded by a Orbal Shutdown Phenomenon aura, making ascending through the inside of the tower the only way. However, on entering the tower they were instead transported to an alternate dimension, where they would find encoded data terminals detailing the Aureole's seal and the towers' function. At the top of Esmelas Tower awaited the Phantom Thief Bleublanc, who fought them until the device suddenly activated and the aura dissipated, which prompted the Enforcer to leave.
