아르세이유

The Arseille (高速巡洋艦(こうそくじゅんようかん)《アルセイユ》) is the high-speed cruiser of the Royal Guard of Liberl.

Development on the Arseille started in S.1199 by the Zeiss Central Factory and construction took three years. In S.1202, ZCF started commencing test flights. The Arseille is introduced after it intercepts Morris Dalmore during his escape from Estelle, Joshua and Kloe. Having been warned by Kloe beforehand, 1st Lieutenant Julia Schwarz, the captain of the ship and company commander of the Royal Guard, arrests the Mayor on charges of arson, robbery, embezzlement and attempted murder.

Later, after the Royal Guard is framed for the Intelligence Division's assault on the Zeiss Central Factory, the Arseille is seized by the latter and held in port until the attempted coup is stopped.

Background

The Arseille is formally unveiled by being deployed in Operation Dragon Capture to catch the rampant Ragnard, serving as the Royal Army's command center of the operation, with bracers as observers aboard it. After the operation manages to take down Ragnard in Valleria Lake, the Arseille lands on water next to him to proceed with the capture, but the Gospel attached to his forehead activates and forces him awake, after which he takes flight once again. The Arseille is the only ship able to keep up with the fleeing dragon, but as Ragnard descends into Nebel Valley to rest in his dwelling, the fog makes it impossible for the ship to follow, making it necessary for the bracers to finish the operation on foot.

Later, Princess Klaudia requests the Arseille to help transport Estelle and her companions to each of the Tetracyclic Towers where Ouroboros' Enforcers are seen, while their forces are causing chaos across Liberl to distract the army. On top of each tower, the influence of the Gospels makes it so the Arseille has to maintain distance, making an approach on foot necessary again.

After visiting all four towers, the devices atop each of them are deactivated and the Liber Ark reappears, emitting a massive wave causing a Orbal Shutdown Phenomenon that covers the entirety of Liberl and southern Erebonia. At the behest of Professor Russell, Julia and the crew are able to land the ship in Valleria Lake safely before its systems are deactivated.

Once Estelle and Joshua repel Ouroboros' attack on Grancel Castle and rescue the Queen and the Princess with help from Alan Richard and Maximillian Cid, they're called to Haken Gate as an Erebonian steam tank division, unaffected by the shutdown, crosses the no-man's-land between the countries. As Princess Klaudia and Prince Olivert negotiate on Liberl's ability to deal with Ouroboros, a functioning Arseille (thanks to Professor Russell's Zero Field Generator) appears as Cassius Bright's trump card, "convincing" Prince Olivert to stop the invasion and give the bracers enough time to deal with the problem, as well as join them as an observer.

Travelling to the Liber Ark, the Arseille manages to escape the Glorious' pursuit and bombardment thanks to its superior manoeuvering and speed. But before arriving on Liber Ark, Leonhardt appeared riding a Reverie Dragion and tore away the Arseille's auxilliary engine, plummeting the ship into the floating city's western border.

While Estelle and Joshua investigate the Liber Ark, the rest of the group repairs the Arseille enough so that it's able to fly again by the time they confront Weissmann in the Core Sector. After defeating Weissmann, the Aureole disappears and the Liber Ark begins to collapse, but Estelle and Joshua fall behind as a tunnel collapses between them and the rest of the party. While the rest make it to the Arseille and take off, Estelle and Joshua end up stranded as the city collapses around them, with the ship unable to rescue them safely due to the damage it took before. After thinking the worst, the people on the Arseille see Cassius, Estelle and Joshua riding Ragnard, who Cassius had called for a favor and had saved the pair as they fell.

Background

The Arseille is found in the First Plane of Phantasma, the Jade Corridor, by Kevin, Ries and Tita, in a nonfunctional suspension state. Tita is able to unlock the doors of the Arseille using the Capel, which allowed them to find Julia's Sealing Stone in the bridge.

In Star Door 8, Olivert Reise Arnor uses the Arseille to make his grand entry back to the Empire and proclaim his challenge to Giliath Osborne, zooming past him and scattering rose petals over the airliner the chancellor was riding.

After freeing Celeste D. Auslese and escaping from Gehenna, she shows Kevin's group how the whole party can will it to operate thanks to Phantasma's rules. The Arseille is then used to escape the planes and reach Castle Phantasmagoria, where the Lord of Phantasma is waiting. They are intercepted by Black Dragions, but Gilbert Stein is able to draw them away using his G-Apache, letting the Arseille reach the castle.

Structure

The XG-02, the Engine used by the Arseille

The Arseille measures 42 arge in length, and is the pride and joy of the Zeiss Central Factory. During test flights, the Arseille can reach a top speed of 3200 SPH, which later was upgraded to 3600 SPH once the XG-02 engines were installed, a speed that allows the ship to keep up with a flying Ragnard and outspeed the heavily armed Glorious.

Legacy

The Arseille forms the basis for the Courageous. Olivier saw the need for this type of ship and contributed heavily to its development, working with his close allies and the Zeiss Central Factory to make his desire a reality.

What became of the original Arseille is unknown, but it eventually made way for the improved Arseille II.
