Central Intelligence Department (中央情報省), abbreviated as CID, is an intelligence agency working together with the president's office in and around Calvard.
Background
The CID was established as a successor to the Rocksmith Agency in S.1205.[Note 1] Following President Roy Gramheart's inauguration, the CID was split in three departments and reorganised as a dictorial system where the president seizes and controls all information. The overarching Integrated Analysis Department, led by Kilika Rouran, was established to coordinate the three departments. The chain of command is not uniform however and often units can act in ignorance of others.
The Calvardian special forces division, Hercules falls under the umbrella of the CID and acts as their task force. Different squads exist including the Beta and Gamma squads. The CID regularly send units to attack Jaeger units for training.
영웅전설 여의 궤적
The CID enlists the services of Van Arkride and the Arkride Solutions Office for contract work in destroying wanted monsters that the CID deem a concern. René Kincaid, a childhood friend of Van prefers to use their services as first call of action rather than deploy a Hercules task force. During the course of the story, René supports Van with additional information but withholds the most confidential details. He confirms operations that CID is taking part in, such as the movements on Eisenschild.
A squad of Hercules members is wiped out by Arioch when an oblivious CID head orders them into Oración during the Carnival.
Former president, Samuel Rocksmith describes the organization in its current state as 'wrapped in red tape and festering with political pressures' suggesting their effectiveness is limited.

Trivia
- Prior to the release of 영웅전설 여의 궤적 II, a series of videos were released providing details on various groups the CID are monitoring in the form of 'CID Case Files'. René narrates these. The topics covered include: the D∴G cult, Iscariot, the Dominion, the Gardens and Ouroboros. In a stream on the 27th August 2022, René's seiyuu, Jun Fukuyama gave a live narration of another report for Van Arkride and Elaine Auclair.
