A handsome young man with a strikingly serious personality. He is the second son of the Vander family—a line of Imperial sword masters—and possesses an inordinate level of skill with dual blades. His family's dismissal from their duties as Imperial bodyguards had left him without purpose, causing him to withdraw from the main campus and enroll in the branch campus instead. Though initially doubtful of how capable the Ashen Chevalier really was, he begins to take Rean's lessons to heart over time, growing as both a person and a swordsman. The handsome second son of House Vander and a masterful wielder of their dual-blade style. Once feeling lost after his family was dismissed as guardians of the Erebonian royal family, he was able to grow immensely as an individual with the help of his instructor and classmates. Their support also gave him the strength to emotionally confront and cross blades against the one he used to protect, Prince Cedric, and see him as a fellow man, friend, and rival. Upon the Great Twilight's end, he chose to remain in Class VII with the intent of studying the literary and military arts until graduation. This decision has, unfortunately, given rise to new internal strife; with his desire to improve himself at the forefront of all else, he is starting to see his own limitations just as much as he is seeing how much further his peers can go.[5]Appearance
Kurt is a young man; unlike the other men of his family, who have brown hair and a bulky build, he has light blue hair (inherited from his mother) and a slim build. Kurt wears the standard uniform of Thors Branch Campus, a blue blazer and waistcoat over a white unbuttoned shirt, with black trousers and brown shoes
During the events of 영웅전설 섬의 궤적 IV, Kurt wears a white sleeveless vest with a blue-sleeved shirt underneath. He also adds a pouch around his thigh, brown gloves and a light blue cravat.
Kurt uses dual swords in combat. They are long and silver with gold patterns and feature an extra limb attaching from the blade to the crossguard. He later obtains the blades used by his ancestor, Roland Vander.

Like his older brother Mueller, Kurt was excited to protect Cedric Reise Arnor in a manner similar to how Mueller did for Olivert Reise Arnor. When this privilege was revoked, he fell into a depression. Despite this, he still cares for Cedric's well-being.
Although he gets along well with his family, Kurt was initially plagued with doubts. He considered himself to be inferior because of his appearance and the fact that he had to settle for dual-wielding rather than the large swords the Vander school is known for. This changed after his experiences at the branch campus, in particular with his instructor, Rean.
Trivia
- Kurt's bonding trophy in 영웅전설 섬의 궤적 III is titled "Your #1 Vand".
- He's not the first playable Trails character to be named Kurt, though he and Kurt Nardin never appear in the same game. However, this only applies in the English version, as the previous Kurt is known as "Kurz" in the Japanese script.
