Background
Kurogane is a chunin of the Ikaruga samurai. He is a practitioner of the Rougetsu school. He wields two double-edged sabers in battle. The weapons are relics from the 암흑시대 that require immense skill to use. Although his sabers are slightly shorter than the one Crow uses, Kurogane implemented a mechanism that allowed him to attach the two together to create a deadly, cross-bladed throwing sword. Kurogane is a servant to 시즈나 렘 미스루기, whom he calls 'princess'.
Kurogane is the grandson of 윤 카파이, which also makes him 아넬라스 엘피드's cousin.

When 린 슈바르처 arrived in mountains near 룽라이, 칼바드 to search for his master 윤 카파이 in January S.1208, he crossed paths with four Ikaruga members, including two scouts, Kurogane and Shizuna. They stated that their "contract" was to observe anyone who came by the area, unless they were a "person of special interest".
Rean bested the two scouts before crossing blades with Kurogane. Kurogane proved much more powerful than his henchmen and managed to force Rean to activate his Enlightened Spirit Unification, which caught Kurogane off guard. Before he could land a counterattack, Shizuna arrived and effortlessly broke Rean's tachi, telling him that he wouldn't find their master here. The two parties then departed.

Kurogane first appears when he reinforces Shizuna near Longlai following her battle with the 아크라이드 해결사 사무소 and 그림 캣츠 on November 15, S.1208. He comments that the party should not be rude to his princess but is interrupted. He then withdraws from the area.
The Ikaruga are then deployed in 오라시온, taking part in the operations against 아르마타 but are caught up in the subsequent death game. Kurogane is keen to use the opportunity to spread the name and reputation of Ikaruga throughout the underworld, challenging Van (should he chose to align himself with Ikaruga) that partnering with another force will hinder that objective. He tests the party, asking 베르가르드 제먼 to abstain. He jokes that the copies he makes are his brothers and proceeds to align himself with Van's group. After assisting in Oración, Kurogane makes preparations for Ikaruga to withdraw.
Should Van align with any other party, Kurogane will instead act as an opponent in the underground remnants beneath the city, fighting the party alongside Shizuna. After the initial bout, he cautions Shizuna about going too far with her abilities and stating that doing so might call the contract into question. He also cannot stop her and apologies when she enters her enhanced state.
Kurogane spends time with 살바토레 고치, 아슈라드, and 레온 발타자르 in the Blacklight District in 이디스 during the run-up to Revolution Day. He may assist Shizuna and the party in the final battle around 제네시스 타워, helping to take out the demon pillars.

Kurogane follows after Shizuna, but temporarily separates as the princess becomes an Arkride Solutions Office spontaneous part-time assistant.
He is controlled by the crimson energies during a solo task and becomes MIA, alerting Shizuna to request Arkride Solutions Office to find him. He is personally beaten up by Shizuna and returns to his senses in a state of confusion.
Kurogane and Shizuna appear on 네메스 섬.
The princess makes another commotion when she secretly ninja-like steals Van's Andalucía cake from his office after April 12, S.1209. Later, Shizuna returns to Ikaruga with Kurogane awaiting. The princess visits Van's office alone to the owner's surprise after Bergard returns.
