Tita's mother, a female researcher who together with her husband provided technical guidance outside of Liberl. With a forceful and powerful personality, she has a tendency to drag those around her into trouble even more than Dr. Russell. Upon returning to Liberl with her husband after the "Shining Ring" incident, she has been working on developing a new weapon to counter the Society's Archaisms, while also actively salvaging the remains of the floating city that sank into the lake, in an attempt to uncover the truth behind the incident that occurred six months ago.

A professor from Liberl's Zeiss Central Factory and the mother of Tita Russell, a foreign exchange student studying at the Thors branch campus. Her father is the genius Professor Albert Russell, one of Epstein's three disciples and father of the Orbal Revolution. Incredible as he is, however, her unique creativity and natural instincts with her research have sparked rumors that she may one day surpass him as an orbal researcher. Her extreme devotion to Tita and firecracker personality have contributed to her dislike of Agate, who she sees as a rival for her daughter's affections.

Appearance

Erika is a woman with long blonde hair, worn loosely tied with a red ribbon, and turquoise eyes- traits she shares with her daughter Tita Russell. She wears a buttoned up navy collar shirt and long black skirt with tights and fuchsia heeled shoes. Over this, she wears a smart tailored labcoat.

Personality

Erika has a forceful and intense personality, and at such times she develops an intense glare, generating an aura of malevolence so powerful that it can be sensed by others. She appears to have an obsessive and hyperactive personality that can manifest in several ways, such as when she wanted to become a sister while young (mostly because she liked the clothes).

Erika dotes on her daughter Tita to the point of overprotectiveness, which makes her irrational and crazy at times, embarrassing Tita, and others consider her a “Mama-Bear” because of this. She detests Agate Crosner, whom she regards as an uncouth never-do-well unfit to be in Tita’s presence, and she frequently seeks to inflict suffering upon him. She also expresses extreme jealousy when Tita shows any form of affection toward Agate. Agate often feels utterly bewildered by her intense and crazy personality, and he often has to suffer through Erika’s shenanigans.

Although seemingly an overwhelmingly crazy person at times, she can turn on a dime and become very serious and thoughtful as well. Erika’s relationship with her father, Albert Russell, appears tense at times, and she often prefers to be referred to as “Professor Erika” instead of “Professor Russell,” though they work quite well together, and it is hard to tell how much of the animosity is serious or simply their own unique form of humor and family bond.

Erika has a “Success Dance” she performs before every experiment, consisting of wild leaps and blasts of energy. Her family states that whether she does the dance or not has no real effect on the actual success of the experiment.
