아이온

An Aion (神機(アイオーン)) is the designation of a group of large humanoid archaisms made by F. Novartis from the Thirteen Factories as the "final Gordias-class prototype".

Background

Aions are incredibly large archaisms that run on spiritual energy. They are equipped with a primary power source known as an Ether Reactor which gives it virtually unlimited operational time. Especially when linked to the Sept-Terrion of Zero, the units are powered by inexhaustible energy, making it difficult to destroy them without destroying the Ether Reactor.

The frames of the successors are strong enough to withstand slashes from Valimar's Zemurian Ore-made tachi. However, it is believed that the units are unable to carry their own weight without borrowing the septium veins' power due to the material and structure of their frames.

영웅전설 벽의 궤적

The three Aion made their debut in 영웅전설 벽의 궤적: the omnipotent Type-α; Type-β, the air-superiority unit with exceptional speed and mobility capable of transforming into a flight form; and Type-γ, the successor to Pater-Mater and superdreadnought-class machine designed for anti-fortress and regional-defence operations. The machines come equipped with an interface capable of calling forth miracles from the Sept-Terrion of Zero and display extraordinary powers, such as Type-α's ability to manipulate space. The development of these units were funded by the Crois Family. They are introduced descending from the sky as a measure devised to keep the forces of Erebonia and Calvard at bay. Indeed, the Type-γ makes short work of the Imperial tanks, destroying them with its buster cannon, the Type-β takes out Calvard's mixed air divisions and the Type-α blocks attacks by the Railway Cannons of Garrelia Fortress before wiping it out completely. The β proceeds to guard the airspace around Crossbell.

Despite the overwhelming threats these machines posed, they are each overcome through herculean efforts. Kevin Graham utilises his Merkabah's stigma cannon to take out the β, Pater-Mater sacrifices itself to destroy the γ and the Special Support Section defeat the α, piloted by Dieter Crois. Professor Novartis teleports away with it after the battle.

영웅전설 섬의 궤적 III and IV

Three successors to the Aion were introduced in 영웅전설 섬의 궤적 III. Having lost the Sept-Terrion of Zero at the end of 영웅전설 벽의 궤적, Ouroboros carried out experiments to see whether the successors would be capable of similar abilities by borrowing the strength of the stimulated septium veins. The three sites they used included Hamel, Stargazer's Tower and The Sol Shrine. The Gamma II model is used to ambush Valimar and keep it busy, the Beta II model is used in Campanella and McBurn's 'greeting' above the Orchis Tower and the Alpha II is used to transport Railway cannons and attack the Juno Naval Fortress. All three are destroyed during the events of the game through being destroyed by Zector, Incinerated by McBurn or by Argreion

Copies of the II models in 영웅전설 섬의 궤적 IV accompanying the Glorious' attack on the Pantagruel. the Gamma II moves to land on the Pantagruels deck but is prevented form doing too much due to Bleublanc's magic knives. The Alpha II manages to cripple Gaius Worzel's Merkabah. They are later all use din the defence of the Tuatha De Danann with both Beta and Gamma disabled by Valimar and Ordine and the Alpha escaping with Mariabell Crois and Campanella.

Discoloured copies of the Aions appear in three of the fake salt pales as final guardians, but all are destroyed.

Copies of the Aions are recreated in the True Reverie Corridor.

영웅전설 계의 궤적

A newly-developed model of Aion, Type-ε, appears in Grim Garten as its final guardian.
