Ymir (ユミル), also known as the Ymir, Hot Springs Paradise (温泉郷ユミル), is a small town at the foot of the Eisengard Range in the mountainous Nortia Province of Erebonia and the home of the Schwarzer Barony. It is the hometown of Rean Schwarzer and governed by his foster father Baron Teo Schwarzer.

Ymir is a remote town, located in the cold mountains of the Nortia Province, governed by the Schwarzer Barony. Despite being relatively unknown, the town is famous for its hot springs, in particular the Phoenix Wings, built as a gift from the Imperial family, which still has ties to the Schwarzer family. The remote location makes travel difficult, with inhabitants and tourists relying on a cable car, while the roads serve as snowboarding courses during the snow season.
After being found at the age of 5 and being adopted by the Schwarzers, Ymir became Rean's hometown. 5 years later, Yun Ka-fai took notice of Rean during one of his visits, taking him as an apprentice to help him control the power he displayed when he saved Elise Schwarzer the previous year.

Background
Rean leaves Ymir in order to enroll in Thors Military Academy, in an attempt to find his own way. Half a year later, he and Class VII, together with Towa Herschel and Angelica Rogner, visit Ymir on the invitation of Eugent Reise Arnor III as a reward for bringing an end to the Imperial Liberation Front's takeover of the Sachsen Iron Mine.
During their stay, an anomalous blizzard took over the town, as Class VII received a challenge from Bleublanc to reach the depths of the Ymir Valley, in a situation similar to when Rean first used his ogre power. At the end of the valley, the remains of animist monuments manifested a great monster, freezing Class VII in place. Rean was able to use an early Spirit Unification to break everyone free and defeat the monster, putting an end to the blizzard. On their return home, Teo gave Rean the intermediate title in the Eight Leaves One Blade entrusted to him by Yun Ka-fai.

Background
Following his defeat at the hands of the Azure Knight, Valimar transports Rean to the Eisengard Range on the orders of Celine Millstein. From there, he is able to be rescued from a Magic Knight by Toval Randonneur, Princess Alfin and Elise, who take him back to Ymir. However, the Magic Knight follows him, threatening the town and forcing them to fight it in the valley.
On their return, they find the Northern Jaegers have attacked Ymir on orders of Duke Albarea, despite the baron's neutrality in the October War, in hopes of capturing the princess and being set as the Noble Alliance's supreme leader. After witnessing Teo heavily wounded, Rean went berserk and single-handedly took down the squad of jaegers before being calmed down by Elise. Vita Clotilde apologized for the jaegers' raid by hypnotizing them and preventing them from reporting their presence, but at the same time gave Altina Orion a chance to kidnap Elise and Alfin for the Alliance.
Ymir became the starting point for Rean to reunite Class VII, using Valimar and the Spirit Path to find his classmates all over eastern Erebonia. After he succeeds, their reunion to decide their path in the war is interrupted when the Pantagruel appears, bringing the Noble Alliance's commanders, Ordine and Ouroboros. While Rean and Valimar are once again defeated, Rufus Albarea defeats the rest of Class VII by himself, and Duke Cayenne makes Rean the offer to join them for a talk in the Pantagruel in exchange for leaving Ymir alone.

영웅전설 시작의 궤적
Ymir returns as a location where Rean and the new Class VII confront Matteus Vander and Claire Rieveldt as part of a training exercise. Later, the party would defend the town from an attack by magic knights.

Trivia
- Ymir was originally scheduled to make its debut in 영웅전설 섬의 궤적, but was scrapped from the final version. Instead, the events that were to take place in Ymir were told through static images at the beginning of the Finale, with more details explained in the Drama CD "Returning Home".
- The concept art of Ymir has the foot bath positioned next to the Plover. In the final version, the foot bath is moved to the centre of Ymir's plaza.
- An unfinished version of Ymir and the cable car of its Funicular Railway can be accessed in 영웅전설 섬의 궤적 through the debug mode. For more information, see the TCRF section on Ymir.
- In episode 4 of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel: Northern War, Ymir's name is misspelled on signage as "Yumir."
- There is also an NPC in 영웅전설 하늘의 궤적 the 3rd by the name of Ymir.
