The Moon Temple (月(つき)の僧院(そういん)) is an ancient temple in Crossbell.

Background

Chapel of the Moon Temple.

Like the Sun Fort and Stargazer's Tower, the Moon Temple was also built by Crossbellan alchemists during the Middle Ages (c. S.700). The Moon Temple was used by the followers of the D∴G Cult to sacrifice the living to strengthen their bond with the demonic.

The path to the Moon Temple is accessible once the Special Support Section solves the monster attacks plaguing Mainz and other areas, but the temple itself isn't open until Noel Seeker requests the SSS's assistance with investigating ghost sightings inside of it.

When they arrive, the higher elementals are active, and numerous creatures and fiends mentioned in the Testaments of the Septian Church appear inside. After fighting a devil, they make their way to the temple's roof where an enormous bell, identical to the one found on Crossbell City's Central Square and other ruins throughout Crossbell, is resonating and seemingly causing the phenomenon until the SSS is able to stop it, which makes the fiends inside disappear (except for one).

The temple consists of the following areas:

• Moon Temple Monster Extermination: Vizou can be found in the Chapel room that leads to the roof.

Background

The Moon Temple is sealed off, but the SSS find Ries Argent about to investigate it on her own when the bell starts resonating again. With the main entrance locked, they find an alternate entrance and head to the back area of the chapel, where Ries reveals her Gralsritter background and usage of a templar sword to eliminate several demons before using Thaumaturgy to stop the bell's resonance.

After the declaration of independence, the Crois Family's plan to recreate their lost Sept-Terrion comes to fruition, with the bell at the roof of the temple resonating to send elemental energy to Orchis Tower, where it gets combined with the other elements and sent to the Castle of Mirrors for KeA's ascension.

Following the ascension, the bells on the Temple and the Stargazer's Tower help maintain the barrier over Crossbell City, as explained to the SSS by Joerg Rosenberg. They head to the temple first, since Arianrhod is waiting at the tower, and face off with Campanella after completing his game inside the temple. After defeating him, they're able to stop the resonance and continue to Stargazer's Tower.
