Background
The Watchtower was established in response to the Republican Army establishing a base of their own on the eastern plains of the highlands. As such, it's considered the first line of defense against any Republican action.

Background
Early in the third day of Class VII's third field study, the Watchtower is attacked with mortar fire, resulting in the deaths of several guards. At the same time, the Republican Army base it overlooked was attacked as well, sparking tensions between the two nations. Group A asks Zechs Vander to give them time to investigate the attack before any retaliation takes place.
After their initial investigation, Group A concludes the attack came from the south, nearby in the highlands. They find the abandoned mortars used for the attack and pursue Millium Orion, who leads them to the culprits at the Ancient Quarry.
Quests
- Delivery to the Watchtower: Kilte wants to deliver a gift to the Watchtower soldiers, and they respond in turn.
- Attack on the Watchtower: Group A investigates an attack on the Watchtower that threatens to start a war.

Background
The Watchtower is taken by the Noble Alliance early in the October War by a combined attack between the Republican Army and Alliance forces. From there, they stage pincer attacks on Zender Gate and disable communications with an orbal jammer. After Rean's group arrives at the highlands and reunites with the other members of Class VII present, they discover the existence of the jammer and resolve to disable it to restore the communications with the people of Nord and prevent the war from consuming the highlands.
With the Alliance forces leaving for another attack, they infiltrate the Watchtower from the area where it was previously attacked from, but they're stopped by Bleublanc and Altina Orion. The group is saved from Bleublanc's Aiguille technique by Sharon Kreuger, but before their battle concludes, they are interrupted by the returning Alliance forces. Despite being surrounded and under assault from an airship, Rean and Valimar are able to defeat several Soldats, causing the Alliance to retreat from the Watchtower entirely. Once the jammer is disabled and the Imperial Army returns to the Watchtower, the battles in the highlands stop for good.
Mint, another Thors student, is found "helping" the Imperial Army at the Watchtower before she's recruited onto the Courageous.
