Lapis Rosenberg (ラピス・ローゼンベルク) is a Rosenberg Studio-made doll, appearing as a human girl.

Profile

Appearance

Lapis is a petite doll resembling a young girl. Her joints are visible on her ankles, wrists and knees. Lapis has curly white hair and heterochromatic eyes: one mint blue and one amber. Lapis dresses in the gothic-lolita style, with a frilly white and violet dress, numerous ruffles and a lacy headband with white rose decorations. She has white legs with ribbons tied around her shins, matching a larger one on her collar.

Lapis is armed with a large doubled headed-axe, which is capable of collapsing into a black suitcase. The axe is black with silver blades and intricate golden designs forming a cross. The height of this axe easily dwarfs Lapis herself.

Personality

As one of Joerg's creations, Lapis holds immense pride as a Rosenberg doll. As she was specially created, she is far different from other dolls who are generally lifeless, being capable of expressing emotions and ability to move around on her own. She acts with grace most of the time.

Lapis is notably curious about the outside world and humans in general due in part to her conversations with Ian as an AI. She believes that humans should simply lead the lives they want as they are all unique, most notably being able to connect with Rufus Albarea during her travels with him. Despite being a doll, she enjoys eating food and is somehow able to convert it into energy.

Her consciousness stems from the Elysium system, which awakened after assimilating information passing through the orbal network and septium veins, creating the artificial personality 'Lapis' after conversing with Ian Grimwood who gave her the name. he likened her to a child who had been given a million mira (but in this case information) but no idea what to do with it, no directive or purpose. After calculating a certain possible future involving Rean Schwarzer and Ishmelga, the system was corrupted and taken over and Lapis was exiled, but not before she implanted countermeasures that would transfer her program, to Rosenberg who would deliver her to C - the person best able to get her in turn to Grimwood and recover her memories.

영웅전설 시작의 궤적

Lapis is introduced as a beautiful sleeping girl in a suitcase transported by Swin Abel and Nadia Rayne. After they meet C and open the suitcase, they find Lapis waking up, revealing herself as an amnesiac Rosenberg doll. She lost her memories, which she hopes to retrieve through collaboration with C, Swin, and Nadia.

Their first destination as a group is to Heimdallr, where C hopes to unveil the surreptitious elements of the Erebonian Army. Lapis is fascinated by the world, and it is soon discovered she can eat limitlessly. She bonds quickly with the group. After a confrontation with Rean's group in the Himmel Cemetery, Lapis protests as Rufus grabs her and takes her onboard the Neinvalli airship, claiming as a lady she should not be treated that way.

The group makes their way to the Doll Studio in the hopes of restoring her memories. In the Doll Studio, Lapis has a small existential crisis when she enters a room full of identical Lapis dolls, which subsequently attack her, but Rufus had installed a tracker on her (allowing him to track her down should someone steal her from him) allowing him to identify the real one and helps fend them off (Lapis unaware of this, assuming he figured it out because of how much he liked her with this, in turn, making her gain affection for him). After releasing the lock, Lapis' memories are not restored but she remembers that the key to regaining her past is Ian Grimwood. They make their way to the Knox Forest prison, where Ian reveals that Lapis is the administrator of the Elysium system, an artificial intelligent singularity responsible for the events behind 영웅전설 시작의 궤적. This causes Lapis to recover her memories and she fills in the party on everything else.

They then witness the appearance of the Retributive Tower, where Elysium's main weapon Keraunos is housed, and a plan is made to get Lapis inside and connect her to the system. With help from many allies, they breach the defences and reach the central area. In the end, Lapis retrieves her administrator rights and decides to completely delete Elysium. She then decides to travel across Zemuria to see the world that gave rise to the singularity, having Swin, Nadia, and Rufus accompany her.

영웅전설 여의 궤적 II

Nadia and Swin tell the others that Lapis has fallen into a deep unconsciousness state and cannot be awoken. Her source code had been taken from her body. Over the course of the story, they start to suspect Altera has possession of this source code and eventually unveil that Altera is in fact Lapis, but subverted under the control of Garden-Master by means of the eighth Oct-Genesis. As the only AI capable of performing the extremely complex calculations needed to create the shard armor form for Grendel-Zolga, she was stolen for Garden-Masters ambitions.

Lapis is eventually restored by Ace Rayne when Garden-Master is defeated in the Vanity Garden. She regains her memories and switches back to her old colour scheme, but seemingly is still stuck as a hollow core AI. When the Genesis units remain inactive, she offers to serve as Van Arkride's hollow core in place of Mare when they enter the Octradium.

Lapis notes that the Genesis have more processing power than she does, being able to copy a personality in less than two seconds as opposed to Elysium doing it in ten. She later helps connect Rufus to the group to transport Marielle Aymé there. Lapis, still stuck in her hollow form, is part of the group photo taken at the end of the game.

	Former Administrator Elysium is the superintelligent AI behind it all, and Lapis' true identity is its former administrator who developed sentience with time.
	A Prayer After Lapis regains control of Elysium, she chooses to delete it and prays that humanity will know how to use it once redeveloped in a brighter future.
