The West Zemurian Tech Union (西ゼムリア技術連盟) is a society of engineers and engineering companies.
Background
In the wake of the increased pace of technology, disasters such as the desertification of Zemuria's eastern side and the advancing threat and technology superiority of the Thirteen Factories, Erika Russell proposed the formation of a new organisation: the West Zemurian Tech Union. It is a group formed to help engineers and other groups towards mutual benefit, with the primary goal of strengthening overall technical capabilities by improving the coordination and cooperation between all the groups. It would also allow them to face the various technological threats brought upon the continent by the Thirteen Factories of the Ouroboros and others.
Erika proposed the idea on behalf of the Zeiss Central Factory. She immediately sought the backing of organizations of substantial clout, as well as key individuals in the world of engineering (the three disciples of C. Epstein). G. Schmidt initially refused but gave in after goading and persuasion by Erika. She stated his direct participation would not be necessary, just his name, but his ego refused to let this be enough. The Reinford Group soon joined, along with George Nome from the Black Workshop and Renne, who had written several dissertations and had a connection to Joerg Rosenberg. The Rosenberg Studio also pledged their support. Eventually, the Epstein Foundation was brought into the fold, but the Verne Company refused. Before their efforts to win over the Verne Company could take fruition, a legal row over the development of the latest generation of combat orbments put a stop to any hope of good relations.
Because of this, Renne decided to investigate why the Verne Company and its CEO Bill Tausend refused to take part in the West Zemuria Tech Union by transferring to Aramis Academy. Around this point, the Aludra Company joined the Tech Union as well. By the time of S.1208, Elsaim prince Sherid Asval also began an investigation into the Verne Company with the assistance of Arkride Solutions Office and learned about a plot in Basel regarding David Callaghan and the criminal syndicate Almata which Bill Tausend knew of, but initially refused to help them with the investigation by only doing the bare minimum. After the incident, Renne and Prince Asval confront Tausend on his actions and is left speechless by what they say. Following the incident, Bill Tausend was later removed as CEO of the Verne Company for his inaction during the incident. By this point, Latoya Hamilton returned from the east and expressed her interest in joining the Tech Union in order to help solve the desertification of Eastern Zemuria.
