Alvin is a man met in the seaside village of Manoria.
He and his fellow-mountaineer Shelby are staying at the White Magnolia Inn in preparation for a hiking and climbing trip in the Krone Mountains. This isn't the first time he and Shelby are taking a trip to the Krone Range, but last time they were forced to call off the whole thing due to bad weather, so now they're in Manoria for a second stab at things. While conditions are good in the lower parts, weather's apparantly still harsh near the top of the mountains, so he and Shelby are waiting in Manoria until things calm down a little.
He and his friend are Manoria the night that the nearby orphanage burns down and he's visibly shaken by the tragic event. He takes a liking to the children during his time spent together with them at the inn where they found temporary shelter and is considering postponing the hiking trip in order to spend some time with the orphans.
