Silver Whales

The Silver Whales (銀鯨) were an escort fleet active in Erebonia.

Background

The Silver Whales were an escort fleet made up of pirate vessels that would offer protective services to commercial liners and ships. Their history goes all the way back to the Middle Ages. They were regarded as 'jaegers of the sea' for their mercenary nature. Part of their forces including the 'Special Attack Force' which Herman was part of.

Miranda, the tavern owner in Ordis described the fleet as being full of children just like Leonora, who were like a family. Leonora believe life in the fleet was more rigorous than the Academy but still views it positively.

Following the Civil War, the Silver Whales were dissolved by Erebonian Empire's government. Some members sought employment in other areas.

While in Ordis, Leonora, who had dropped out of the fleet and joined Thors Branch Campus, visits some of the taverns she used to frequent and cannot but think of her old comrades on the sea, one of which is involved in illegal activities including extortion and makes her ashamed and frustrated. Leonora is asked to help get through to an old comrade from the escort fleet, Herman, who is seven years her junior and one of their best fighters. She is called in at the blockade put up and states Herman has met his match, berating him for his refusal to let the highs of the past go.
