Nolan is a man met at the Haken Gate.
He's the proprietor and bartender at the pub/rest stop where people leaving or entering the country wait for their clearance. When the airspace above Bose is closed, the garrison at the gate is placed on high alert and Eisen Road is blocked off, things suddenly get a lot busier at his place, since travellers wanting to travel to Bose on foot get stranded at the gate.
One of the people who ends up stuck at the pub is Olivier Lenheim, who is having some food while waiting for Eisen Road to reopen. Nolan is a bit put off when Olivier's praise of his food involves calling his establishment a "border dive", but doesn't seem to take it too personally and is quick to offer him some wine to go with the food.
His conversation with Olivier ends when Estelle, Joshua and Scherazard enter and become the center of Olivier's attention. While Nolan doesn't butt into the resulting conversation, he's highly amused when the eccentric Olivier starts flirting with a baffled Joshua, reminding the player that NPCs are perfectly capable of overhearing the inter-party banter, even if they usually don't comment on it.
