Helena is girl belonging to an upper class family from the city of Grancel.
She lives in a home in the northern block of the royal city together with her mother Marian and her father Martin.
Her father's defining trait is not his considerable wealth, but his state of mind during events such as the martial arts competition and the birthday celebration. Martin is obsessed with large public events and his already overenergetic mind becomes downright manic during the days of those events and during the time Estelle and Joshua are in Grancel to see Queen Alicia, Martin is in the middle of his martial arts competition high, much to his family's exasperation.
While his wife mostly takes her husband's mania in stride, Helena is extremely annoyed by him during those times. Since not going along with her father results in him sulking and guilt tripping his family all day long, Helena tries more subtle ways to make the situation more bearable for herself and her mother, like helping her mother in the household more so she won't be as exhaused at the end of the day and eventually fiddling with her father's alarm clock in an attempt to keep him in bed for a little while longer and let the three of them have a little bit more rest. This causes him to oversleep, much to his dismay.
Unlike her father, who's so fixated on the public events in the city that he tries to micro-manage his family's activities to a ridiculous degree, Helena has little interest in the martial arts tournament, feeling that just hearing about the competition results would be enough and continuously complains about her father's manic antics, likening him to a ticking timebomb when the Queen's "illness" threatens to result in the birthday celebration to be cancelled.
The Intelligence Division's coup ends up being thwarted though and during the birthday celebration, Helena is standing outside her home, reluctantly preparing to attend the festivities with her family as her father holds yet another role call.
