Ed is an inhabitant of Elmo Village.
He lives in a house next to the inn's entrance together with his wife Lynn and his daughter Recia.
Ed's a chef specializing in Eastern cooking who works at the Maple Leaf Inn. He's known in the entire village and beyond for his excellent cooking skills and his cooking was even mentioned in an article about the inn in issue 3 of the Liberl News.
Since he's usually preparing food all day long, he's usually in no mood to do any more work after getting back home and has his wife serve him food and tea, much to her annoyance since she has chores around the house all day long too, which don't end after official working hours.
Since preparing breakfast for the inn's clientele is also among Ed's duties, he usually gets up really early each morning, much to his daughter's dismay, who feels like she's getting too little sleep due to her dad not bothering with any attempts to keep quiet while getting out of bed.
Ed gets into a bit of trouble with his employer when Dorothy Hyatt, who's been staying at the inn, decides to take a walk outside the village and runs into Ed near the village entrance. Ed warns her that it's dangerous on the plains due to monsters, but Dorothy pays no attention to him. When Ed starts worrying about her later, he returns to the inn to ask if Dorothy hasn't come back yet. When it turns out that she hasn't and Ed explains that he saw her leave the village earlier, he gets yelled at by an angry Mrs. Mao for letting her leave in the first place.
Fortunately for Ed, Estelle and Joshua arrived at the inn earlier while escorting Tita to the village to work on the inn's water pump. Not having anything else to do while Tita's fixing the pump, Estelle and Joshua volunteer to search the plains for the missing guest. Relieved, Ed leaves the matter in the bracers' hands, though not before getting a second berating remark from the innkeeper.
