Alund is a visitor to the town of Ruan.

Having saved up some money, Alund spends pretty much all his time at the Lavantar Casino & Bar where he engages in the various games of chance there. Unlike his fellow casino-goer Phelio, Alund has no luck with the games whatsoever, going from denial and blaming the construction of the slot machines to disbelief that he's losing to an amateur like Phelio to horror when he realizes he's gambled away so much of his money that he doesn't even have enough to afford a flight back home.
In order to be able to afford a return ticket, Alund decides to accept a part-time job as dish-washer offered by Primo, who's tending the bar on the Lavantar's first floor and who could use an extra hand to help out with the restaurant. While working to get some of his funds back, he finds a sense of fulfillment from putting in work to earn a paycheck.
By the time the floating city of Liber Ark appears and shuts down orbal technology all across the country, Alund has received his first paycheck. Deciding to complement his salary with some additional mira, he starts gambling in the casino again, hoping to get the money for a return ticket home sooner. However, his awful luck with gambling hasn't changed since the last time he went broke and he once again loses all his funds to the slot machines. By the time Estelle and her friends restore communication between the Bracer Guild branches, Alund has once again retreated to the Lavantar's balcony and is laughing like a madman at his situation.
