Celis Ortesia's story.
Background
Like Leon Balthazar, Celis was trained or mentored by Bergard Zeman. At an unknown point in time, Celis took the position of the fourth Dominion of the Gralsritter. Bergard notes she is amongst the highest ranking.
At the time of the battle at Retributive Tower, Celis could not take part as she was leading another team. She was actually supposed to be there but the devs accidentally marked the Merkabah as 03 instead of 04.[1]
It's revealed during Bright and Watery that Celis was born to a poor family on the outskirts of the continent. She would eventually end up at an orphanage where she was viewed as the big sister to the children there. The only person Celis would look up to would be a travelling nun who would visit the orphanage from time to time. However, when Celis was 13, she and the other children at the orphanage were kidnapped by a human trafficking ring. Luckily, the travelling nun caught the children being kidnapped so she began to defend the children. The nun had neglected her own safety and as a result was tortured by the kidnappers. After witnessing the torture of the nun, Celis's stigma manifested with her flames engulfing the kidnappers. The men screamed from agnony and that's when the children that onced viewed Celis as a big sister began to fear her. As a last attempt, one of the men aimed their gun at Celis, but it was the nun that took the bullet shielding Celis. As Celis held the nun as she died in her arms, Bergard Zeman arrived at the scene but it was too late to heal the wounds of the nun.

Alongside Leon, Celis is active in the effort to defeat Almata. During this time, the two of them are shown to have a hostile relationship with Ashladd, a member of the Papal Guard, which has conflicting views with the Gralsritter. She first shows up the the Blacklight District of Edith where she calls out Ashladd for taking part in the clandestine meeting between different meeting parties discussing Almata. She calls out Van Arkride and immediately begins hostilities, recognising him as a fellow disciple of Bergard. Celis also gets into a confrontation with Walter Kron.
Celis and Leon take part in Almata's death game in Oración, first fighting against Ashladd and Iscariot. They engage their Stigmas but Bergard intervenes and breaks up the fight. Discovering he was actually alive, they decide not to fight and move on. Van and company meet up with her later in the city and she mocks Iscariot for both units being defeated at once. She explains her primary objective in the city is the recovery of artifacts used by Almata and the Gardens. Later, the pair of Dominions face off against either Hasan Al-Fayed or Geraint Reigar but are forced to withdraw from the game after Arioch makes an appearance. She makes one more appearance after the game to take over the battle against Arioch's Fangs of Rahu and makes it out when the Vashtar Palace Ruins explode.
Both Celis and Leon have undisclosed business in the capital in the lead up to Revolution Day, with some part of this being rounding up remnants of Almata. Father Orwell lets them use his chapel as a base of operations. Celis wonders why Bergard would travel around with Van when they run into each other. She arrives too late to stop Amdo-Jiliath when it manifests below Edith, sensing the presence of an arch-devil, having been beaten by Van's party. She attends the celebration party at the Montmart Bistro.
On Revolution Day, Celis travels with Elaine and Rixia to Pâtisserie Andalucía. After they pay the bill, they are caught up in Pandemonium and Celis wastes no time in slaying the fiends that manifest. She gives aid to Van and the group but doesn't accompany them as they have Bergard and she wants to search on her own. She lends her spiritual sensing ability (although she admits she isn't as skilled with it) to find Quatre Salision and gets into another quarrel with Walter. She uses her Stigma to help bring down the barrier blocking access to Genesis Tower.
In the New Year, Celis travels back to Arteria with Bergard and Leon and meets up with other Dominions.

Celis fakes a mail from Bergard in order to lure Van to the underground ruins beneath Edith, believing that Van was responsible for Bergard's death due to the "curse" he had inherited in order to protect him. Van is confused but believes that she was corroded. He tries to call Mare, but finds himself unable to and Celis kills him. However, due to the Oct-Genesis in his possession, these events don't come to pass.
Van later calls Leon, who brings Gotti and Nina to help arrange transportation to Editch Cathedral, but Celis intercepts them. Believing Van was scurrying like the rat he was, she threatens both him and Leon and activates her Stigma. To protect the three, Van jumps out of the van and lets Celis kill him, though as with before, these events don't come to pass.

- ↑ By the way, due to a slight mistake the numbers of these two unseen Merkabah ended up a little different than we originally planned. These should have been numbers 04 and 11 (instead of 03 and 11) to represent the Fourth and Eleventh Dominion, of which neither have been mentioned in the games so far.
