Ultimate Wilderness Cooking (究極の野生飯) is a Daydream in 영웅전설 시작의 궤적. Its events take place prior to the main story.

Synopsis

This Daydream takes place in S.1207 in Mid February, two weeks prior to the wedding of Scherazard Harvey and Olivert Reise Arnor. Nicholas is asked to help find dishes to serve as appetizers for the imperial wedding and he contacts Thors Military Academy alumni and students to help. The dishes must be approved by a selection committee.

Freddy and Sandy discuss what meals will be suitable, with Sandy cautioning Freddy against use of his normal ingredients. Freddy begins to doubt himself and does some research, finding out many are not thrilled at the prospect of eating his food. rationalising it as other people lacking the refined palette needed to enjoy his food, Freddy nonetheless decides to restrain himself. He contacts Margarita Dresden for advice.

Freddy later explores the Rock patio in the Languedoc Canyon. He dispatches many enemies and discovers ingredients such as rock tripe, beehives and black truffles. He tracks down the Phantom beast, a gumarai called Anuaguma with which he engages in a battle. Knowing that he needs to slay the beast in a single blow to maintain the flavour of the meat, he uses his ultimate secret technique: Beast Blood Removal which kills it immediately.

Munk acts as facilitator in place of Nicholas who was called to Valflame Palace. The judges are Roselia Millstein, Reiner and Wilhelm Ballad. Roselia is noted to hate vegetables and love junk food, whilst Ballad has a refined palette and is a gourmet. Marquis Ballad acts haughty and arrogant, believing that none of the dishes made by 'amateurs' here will be good enough for him. Presenting dishes are Sandy with her Lenheim Risotto, Tita Russell with her spaghetti on a fork, Kenneth Lakelord and Annabelle with Grilled Golden Somora, a rare fish they caught with cooperation from the Fisherman's Guild and Imperial Fishing Club, Margerita with her Stamina Gelato and Juna Crawford with pretzels cooked in the style of Liberl, Crossbell and Erebonia. Roselia and Ballad argue several times over the dishes, whilst each time Ballad provides insightful and mastery knowledge of the ingredients and how each dish as cooked, appreciating the intricacies of each dish.

They are reluctant to eat what appears to be raw meat from Freddy, but he brings out a broth and serves them with Shabu Shabu. All three judges absolutely love it and soon everyone wants to try the dishes, even though Ballad tries to keep Freddy's to himself. Freddy remarks to Sandy that he snook his odd ingredients into the broth, powdered caterpillar fungus with everyone none the wiser. He exclaims that he will broaden their palettes eventually.
