The Ancient Dragon's Dwelling is the den of the Holy Beast Ragnard, located in the northwestern region of Nebel Valley.

Background

The dwelling has been the home to Ragnard for many centuries since the time before the Great Collapse. It's hidden by a massive fog bank, preventing visibility and access by airship. Access by foot is currently only known to Whemler, a hermit who lives on the northeastern region of the valley.

In S.1182/3, Cassius Bright once paid a visit to Ragnard in its den hoping to challenge it and test his skill with a blade. While the outcome of the fight is unknown, Cassius managed to earn the dragon's trust, respect and friendship. After that battle, Ragnard continued his slumber for 20 more years.

In S.1202, the dwelling was also discovered by Georg Weissmann and Leonhardt from Ouroboros. After awakening the dragon, Weissmann forced a Gospel on his forehead to test the device's power to manipulate his will. Loewe then controlled the dragon to cause havoc over Bose.

Following the failed Operation Dragon Capture, Ragnard returns alone to the dwelling to rest. Estelle, Agate, Tita and the others are tasked with infiltrating the lair and dealing with the dragon. After recruiting Whemler's help, they confront Ragnard in a fight, during which Agate is able to destroy the Gospel. Finally free of its influence, Ragnard apologizes for his actions, makes restitution with the group and provides information. The dwelling is then abandoned by Ragnard and has not been used since.

Background

The dwelling serves as setting for Star Door 6: Training, Agate-Style. Agate takes Rocco, Deen and Rais to the dwelling as their test to become junior bracers. The monsters still living there pose a significant challenge for the three, which causes arguments between them. Ultimately, they're able to cooperate and reach the dragon's former lair, where Agate challenges them to a fight.
