Private Tact is a soldier serving in the Royal Army.
He's stationed in Grancel and has to guard the gate to the Calvardian embassy. Estelle and Joshua deal with Tact while looking for Zin in order to ask him if they can join his team. Tact mentions that Zin went out to meditate and train at the Erbe Scenic Route. While pointing the two junior bracers in Zin's direction, he wastes no time in voicing his admiration of the martial arts master.
Initially, like many people, Tact was intimidated by Zin's immense size, but quickly grew to like the Calvardian bracer and Zin turned out to be very friendly to Tact, even sharing some of his food with the guard when the latter mentioned he was hungry. Due to having to guard the embassy, Tact is able to neither attend the matches nor participate even though he would have loved fighting alongside Zin. Nevertheless, Tact is rooting for Zin and his team throughout the competition, encouraging them beforehand and congratulating them after the victory.
Private Tact is one of the few soldiers who isn't replaced by special ops as the Intelligence Division tightens its hold on the city and he mentions he won't leave his post unless told to do so by his commanding officer. During the Birthday Celebration, he's on duty as well, stating that crowd-drawing events such as this one require him to keep an extra sharp eye out for potential troublemakers.
Private Tact was called Private Tacitus in the PSP version.
