Gaspard is an inhabitant of the town of Grancel.
He's a merchant operating a popcorn stand in the southern block of the royal city in front of Wingard Orbal Factory.
Gaspard may very well be the unluckiest merchant in the entire country. A merchant's job tends to be very busy during the birthday celebration and the preceeding martial arts tournament since Grancel tends to get a lot of visitors for both events. Unfortunately, barely a day goes by without something bad happening to him.
On the day of the tournament's preliminaries, his cash register breaks down, making him unable to do business. He manages to get it fixed, only for a latch on his stall to get stuck two days later, preventing one of the stand's cases from opening properly. As much as he realizes he ought to have his stand repaired, the people he'd usually call on for repair jobs are unavailable due to the festivities. While he manages to hold out during the day afterwards, his stand suffers a flat tire the day after the competition. To top all of that off, the Intelligence Division's clampdown on air traffic has made him unable to get deliveries processed, causing them to get backed up.
He hates the fact that things his life keep running out of control, though since he's gotten so used to his bad luck nowadays, the end of a day has come to feel anticlimactic to him if there hasn't been any trouble to overcome.
