Elwyn, a NPC met in Zeiss

Elwyn is an inhabitant of the town of Zeiss.

He's the owner of Bell Station General Store located in the center of the city block and he lives above the store together with his wife and two sons.

Profits from the store aren't always as high as they could be, due to Elwyn making inventory stocking decisions that often don't make sense from a financial point of view; he tends to stock things that aren't in wide demand, but he thinks "some people might need it sometimes" and refrains from stocking up on additional quantities of things that sell well.

The reason for Elwyn's odd business decisions is the fact that he's more a dreamer than a straight-up salesman and his dream is having his store become known in town as "the little neighborhood store" where people can go for every daily need, which is why he goes out of his way to keep his stock as varied as possible even when it cuts into his profits.

This regularly puts him into conflict with his wife Ada, who manages the finances of the household and who deals with physical symptoms of stress due to frequently having to struggle to make ends meet.

When Central Factory gets attacked and Elwyn hears that there's something going on there, he immediately heads over there with food and medication from his shop in the hopes of being able to help out in some manner. If Estelle, Joshua and Titatalk to Elwyn before entering the factory, he'll allow them to pick one out of three items from his supplies, a petrification quartz, a celestial balm or a proxy doll, neither of which can be bought at that point in the game.

While Elwyn giving away items from his store for free is likely putting his family in the red for another month, it does have the effect of his wife finally grasping how serious he is about making a positive difference in the community in any way he can and she starts appreciating his dream more. The two of them have a long talk and Ada decides to support his dream from that point on by taking care of product ordering and stock, taking part of the job off his hands while being able to keep a careful eye on the finances at the same time.

His wife's change of heart is a massive motivator for Elwyn to keep trying his best too.
