Ernest Reis's story.
Background
As the First Secretary of Mayor Henry MacDowell, Ernest Reis was a tutor to the mayor's granddaughter, Elie MacDowell. Ever since she started to study abroad, they have grown estranged to each other. Ernest tried to pursue Elie to follow a political career, but her mind was set on that of the police force. Ernest said he would still look over her.
Ernest originally aimed to follow in Mayor MacDowell's footsteps by maintaining a neutral political position. Due to the difficulties that came with the position, however, he misappropriated the office's funds for years to strengthen his ties with the pro-Imperialist faction within the government.

Ernest initially appears as the first secretary to Mayor McDowell. He wants Elie to quit the force and return to politics, citing her apparent exhaustion and the lack of a suitable successor for Henry. Frustrated by the 'sick Crossbell' he found himself living in, Ernest was an easy target for the Cult. The Gnosis provided by Joachim Guenter manipulated Ernest into an assassination attempt on his boss, Mayor Henry MacDowell. Ernest was after the Mayoral position himself. The attempt failed, however, thanks to the intervention of the Special Support Section.
The Gnosis that were prescribed to Ernest allowed him to Demonise and easily break out of prison, especially when the prison itself had already fallen into the cult's hands. He became an underling of Joachim, wielding a ghastly devil sword in one hand. As a side effect of the Gnosis, his eyes had turned crimson red. He transformed into another kind of demon, but was once again defeated by the SSS when they confronted him in the underground of the Sun Fort.

Ernest seemingly escapes the Cult's defeat beneath the Sun Fort and flees to an old cult lodge near Altair, where he plans to continue the Cult's ambitions. Lloyd, together with Arios MacLaine, Alex Dudley and Kevin Graham shut this attempt down after storming the lodge cave, defeating some demons and facing Ernest who, just like Joachim, ingests a large quantity of Gnosis and Demonises to a large form. They are able to save him from dying however and revert him back to normal, from which he is escorted to the Knox Prison.
