Assault Frames, known as the Next Generation All-purpose Mobile Suit (次世代汎用人型機動兵器AF), are humanoid combat armours, developed by the Verne Company in conjunction with the Craftsmen's guild in Basel.

Background

Assault Frames are developed as part of the next generation of Calvard's military hardware, spearheaded by the work of Yang Cronkite of the Basel Institute of Science. It is a brand new technology developed from scratch in the Republic, building on the concept of the Panzer Soldat. It uses the 6th Generation Xipha Units for control, demonstrating top performance outputs in reaction speed, power, and operability. It is said the design surpasses the Empire's state of the art systems in all parameters.

The Verne Company and Craftsmen's Guild of Basel are involved in their fabrication and the Marduk Company are involved in testing. Giscard's workshop is one known location where the hardware was developed with the man of the same name involved in its development.

According to then CEO of Verne, Bill Tausend, Verne had a deal with the Tyrell News Service to stop plans of the AF from leaking to the public.

Van Arkride and the Arkride Solutions Office obtain an early preview of the work on Assault Frames in Giscard's Workshop, where they are being covertly developed, although parts are going missing. After coming to the aid of Quatre Salision, they are given more freedom of Basel, although they do not make a particular note of the Assault Frame's significance. When David Callaghan's AI tries to stop them, it controls a prototype Assault Frame: Zyklos made up of the stolen pieces of equipment, which uses cloaking technology. Van is able to defeat it and snatch an Oct-Genesis unit, disabling its functionality.

The unit is officially unveiled to the public at the Revolution Day celebrations, in a speech by Roy Gramheart. Afterwards, it is left on display in the Revolution Plaza. When Pandemonium envelops the city. Gramheart uses an Assault Frame personally to aid in the breach of Genesis Tower.
