After Rean Schwarzer, the young man who ended the Empire's civil war and became known as the 'Ashen Chevalier,' graduated from Thors Military Academy, he assumed a teaching position at the academy's branch campus. As Rean stepped off the train at Leeves, Towa warmly greeted her former underclassman--now a colleague.
Rean and Towa immediately proceeded towards the branch campus to greet the other instructors. Their colleagues included the Railway Military Police's Major Michael Irving, First Lieutenant Randolph Orlando from the Imperial Army's Crossbell Unit, Professor G. Schmidt--thought to have the greatest mind in the entire empire--and completely unexpectedly, former general Aurelia Le Guin, a.k.a. the 'Golden Rakshasa' and the branch campus' new principal.
Once they greeted the other instructors, the school year's opening ceremony commenced. Principal Aurelia gave a rousing motivational speech to close the ceremony, and the students separated into their classes. As the students gathered around their designated instructors, Rean and three students were left behind. With a fierce grin, Principal Aurelia announced to Rean and the students, 'You three belong to Class VII: Special Operations! The instructor in charge will be Rean Schwarzer.'
Rean introduced himself to the students, but two already knew him by his reputation as the 'Ashen Chevalier' and harbored feelings of distrust. One was Juna Crawford, who came from the Crossbell Police Academy, and resented the Empire for occupying her homeland. The other was Kurt Vander, a member of the Vander family and disciple of its swordfighting style.
The third student was the 'Black Rabbit', Altina Orion, tasked with both surveilling and supporting the Ashen Chevalier as part of the Intelligence Division.

The three students were subjected to a series of tests to see if they were qualified to join Class VII and study under Rean's tutelage. In undergoing the tests, Juna and Kurt came to recognize Rean's leadership abilities and were willing to join Class VII--despite their reservations. Altina naturally intended to join as part of her duties, but grew conflicted after Rean told her to choose for herself. In the end, she made the decision to join Class VII.
'Let's all work hard and grow together. Not just as a class, but as comrades!'
Rean's reassuring words marked the start of Class VII's life at the academy.
