The Holy Iskan Empire (イスカ神聖皇国) was an enormous, legendary empire east of Calvard.

The Iskan emperor was protected by nine clans of guardians known as the Navagraha. One of these was called the Rahu (羅睺(ラゴウ)衆), which came from the West, to which Arioch belonged. The other known clans that were part of the Navagraha were Heiyue and Ikaruga.

At its height the empire was described as having completely dominated the far east of Zemuria and it had diplomatic relations with the then-Kingdom of Calvard. It fell after a cataclysm struck in S.1078. In the present day, an alliance of city-states bearing the name of Iska still exists but they regularly fight amongst themselves.

Trivia

• Ragou is one of the nine major celestial bodies (navagraha) in Hindu texts, as rendered into Japanese. The English translation chose to directly use "Rahu".
• In Nihon Falcom's Ys series, one of the five Five Tribes of Altago was also called Iska.
