Victor (ビクトル) is a character introduced in 영웅전설 여의 궤적. He runs the Bistro Montmart alongside his daughter Paulette.

Profile

Appearance

Victor is an older man with reddish-brown hair, and green eyes, giving him a strong familial resemblance with his daughter and granddaughter. He appears well built and has thick eyebrows and a thick moustache. Victor wears a chef's uniform with a scarlet scarf with a gold hem tied around his neck.

Personality

Though he is strict, stern and somewhat protective, he is ultimately friendly and supportive to his family and clientele. Victor is staunchly protective of his family and dotes upon his granddaughter Yumé and is visibly angered when the thought of either of his relatives coming to harm becomes a possibility. Beneath his gruff exterior, Victor has a softer side, caring for his clientele and loving the game of chess. He is very emotional when Yumé reveals she learned how to play chess to bond with him.

Victor is not obstinate about traditions and is willing to let his family live life in their own way, even when he is gone. He considers different management styles for the bistro that would suit Paulette better.

Background

Victor's wife died before the events of 영웅전설 여의 궤적.

Victor is the manager of the long-established Bistro Montmart in Edith's old town. The bistro is well-known amongst residents in the city, including former president Samuel Rocksmith. He agreed to help raise Yumé when Paulette quit her job as a nurse six years ago after she was cheated on by Yumé's father. His bistro has apartments on upper floors which he rents out to Van Arkride and his co-workers.

영웅전설 여의 궤적

Victor initially appears to have a dim view of Van Arkride, who rents out office and living space above the bistro. Despite this, he looks out for him and gives him advice , but isn't above giving him a piece of his mind - especially when Yumé, his beloved granddaughter does so. Victor receives vegetable deliveries from Creil and has Van try some recipes he replicated when they tell him about one they encountered in said village. From there on, he replicates recipes for interesting foods they find on their business trips. Victor has mixed relationships with the additional workers Van reluctantly hires: he dotes upon Feri Al-Fayed but remains hard-edged and antagonistic towards Aaron Wei, who tries to make moves on his daughter.

Victor initially suspects Maxim Rogen had returned to speak with Paulette when he appears at the bistro, but his doubts prevent him from openly discussing it with her. Paulette gratefully accepts Van's suggestion for him to take Yumé to Longlai so she can discuss the issue with her father. Victor is angered with Maxim when he is told the truth and thinks about beating him up when he lays eyes upon him. After their return, he joins everyone in listening to the broadcast about Creil Village- saddened to think of his acquaintances lost.

In the approach to Revolution Day, Victor allows Van and company to reserve the whole bistro until 7pm for a party. During these events he strikes up a friendship with Bergard Zeman who compliments him on his chess skills, saying that even amongst the Gralsritter there are few with his level of skill. On the Day itself, Victor is busy running the bistro but comments that he will never forgive Maxim if he lays a hand on Paulette again. Van spends some time with him learning how to cook and give him a hand, but Victor is adamant that he will never accept Maxim as a 'son'. He takes shelter in the bistro when Pandemonium envelops the city, and bids Van find Feri who headed out.
