Michael Gideon's story.

Background

Gideon was a commoner by birth. Before he joined the Front, he was an assistant professor of political philosophy at the Imperial Academy in Heimdallr. He heavily criticised many of Osborne's polices and reforms as counter to Erebonian traditions and beliefs.

By S.1201, Gideon had begun a campaign of political activism against Giliath's policies and reforms by handing out flyers and publicly speaking against them. As a result, he was dismissed from the university.

During his time at the academy, he authored a text titled Marching Towards Dystopia in which he criticised Osborne's policies. He was mentored by a colleague at the academy, Professor Carton, who thought his manifesto was absurd, never imagining the scenario described within would come true.

영웅전설 섬의 궤적

Gideon was first introduced as the shadowy operator behind the thefts plaguing Celdic. He summoned the monster Grunoja with the Demonic Flute and coerced it into attacking Class VII. After Grunoja was defeated, Gideon left the party alone to avoid being detected by the Railway Military Police who had arrived to help Class VII. He was later seen watching Class VII head home by train and meeting with his leader, "C".

“The tyrant must yet face the merciless hammer of judgement.”
— Michael Gideon, Trails of Cold Steel, Chapter 1.

Gideon appeared again during the terrorist attacks on the Calvard military base and Imperial watchtower in the Nord Highlands. He had masterminded both terrorist attacks; however, he used jaeger corps dropouts to do most of the work. He introduced himself to Class VII as they explored the Ancient Quarry. Just before Class VII's arrival, the dropouts demanded money from Gideon for their work so far; he threatened to terminate their contract if they didn't comply with its terms. Unswayed by Class VII's arrival, he calmly assessed the situation and attacked Class VII with his gun and the support of the jaegers. After the battle, Gideon used his flute to summon the giant spider monster Ginosha-Zanak and ordered it to exterminate all witnesses as he escaped using his grappling hook. "C" later complimented Gideon on his mission after checking up on him.

On July 26 S.1204, Gideon participated in an operation to attack the Imperial royal family and kidnap Princess Alfin Reise Arnor. After sneaking into the city unseen, he greeted his comrades in the port and motivated them with a rousing speech. He then waited until 2:24 pm, when he used his flute to summon crocodile monsters from the nearby river to attack certain locations hosting the royals. In Mater Park's Crystal Garden, Gideon captured and held Alfin and Elise Schwarzer at gunpoint, firing at Carl Regnitz who had tried to stop him. Upon Class VII's arrival, he escaped with his hostages and two henchmen through a hole in the floor.

Catching up to Gideon in the underground passage, Class VII demanded the release of the princess and Elise. Gideon pretended to surrender and stated he would return the girls if Class VII managed to defeat the skeletal remains of Zoro-Agruga reanimated by his flute. After the battle, Gideon was shocked when Class VII defeated the beast and destroyed his flute. Seeing he was at a disadvantage, he pulled a knife on Alfin and declared he was prepared to do whatever was necessary for the mission, even harming a member of the Imperial family. Gideon was then relieved to see his companions "C", Scarlet, and Vulcan drop down from above. Gideon complied with C's request to release the prisoners and escaped with his companions after causing a cave-in.

A month after the attack on the Summer Festival, Gideon met with his comrades again one last time in Lunaria Nature Park. He greeted Scarlet and Vulcan when they arrived and asked if they had completed their preparations. The two confirmed that they had; Scarlet noted Gideon should be worrying about himself, while Vulcan stated he should have been the one going to Crossbell instead of Gideon. Gideon disagreed with his comrades' views, arguing that having lost his flute, he had also lost all value to the organization. C arrived and asked Gideon whether he was committed to executing his plan. Gideon confirmed he was, then reaffirmed his loyalty and dedication to the ILF's goals. After a salute, Gideon left.

영웅전설 벽의 궤적

Gideon's death can be witnessed during the West Zemuria Trade Conference at Orchis Tower.

While not shown at first, Gideon could be seen arriving at Orchis Tower in an airship alongisde a second airship from the Anti-Immigrant Order of Calvard. The two airships then fired at the windows of the main conference room while Campanella compromised the tower's other security systems by hacking the orbal network. However, as the windows were made of reinforced bulletproof glass, the airships' guns were unable to pierce them. After the conference attendees gathered at the back of room, an unknown male (implied to be Gideon) introduced himself and his comrades as the Imperial Liberation Front and the allied Anti-Immigrant Order.

Gideon then notified the conference representatives of the ILF's intention to kill their "sworn enemy" Osborne, while the Anti-Immigrant Order told President Rocksmith they also intended to kill him. As the conference attendees discussed their next actions, the ILF and Anti-Immigrant Order landed their aircraft on the roof, donned their masks, and exited the aircraft.

Behind the scenes of the West Zemuria Trade Conference, seven Imperial Liberation Front members were slaughtered by the Red Constellation. Behind the pillar, the eighth member can be seen just before being taken hostage by Shirley Orlando.

As Alex Dudley considered his next move, a tremor caused the shutters separating the tower's floors to descend, sealing off the staircases. Meanwhile, the reporters and army officers outside the building attempted to ascertain what had happened. Gideon and the other assailants then engaged Dudley in battle. Arios MacLaine soon arrived to help the representatives even the odds, followed by Julia Schwarz and Mueller Vander.

The tide turning against the terrorists, both groups retreated underground into the Geofront, with the Special Support Section pursuing the ILF down to Geofront Block D. Once there, however, they found the Imperial Liberation Front had been ambushed and massacred by the Red Constellation, who were employed by the Erebonian government. Gideon died along with them.
