The Bracer Guild (遊撃士協会(ゆうげきしきょうかい)) is a non-governmental organisation acting to keep the peace and protect civilians wherever its numerous and continent-spanning branches reach.

Its members are known as bracers.

Background

The Bracer Guild was founded in S.1152 in Leman. Before they were united in a continent-spanning guild, bracers are said to have been active as early as the Middle Ages.

Bracers are investigative and combat specialists who work to protect civilians and maintain the stability of their respective regions. They aid the community in various ways such as exterminating monsters, preventing crime, finding lost items, and escorting people and goods. The Bracer Guild, which has established branches across the continent, manages the affairs of the bracers in each region. Although they do not necessarily have the skills to take part in active fieldwork, the Guild also recruits capable individuals to work as receptionists at their branches across the continent.

Due to its international and neutral nature, it often mediates between disputing powers, and it even played a role in ending the Hundred Days War and several other large-scale incidents in west Zemuria. However, as a consequence of the various roles the Bracer Guild is required to fulfill, it is often short-handed.

Although bracers are usually registered with specific branches, they may request transfers to other branches, even if those branches are operational in other countries. It is common practice for branches that are short on manpower to receive additional assistance from temporarily transferred bracers from other countries.

Guild Code

Furthermore, the Bracer Guild has a long-standing policy of non-intervention when it comes to a nation's military, as stated in Article Three of the guild code: "Bracers and Non-Involvement in Military or Political Matters. A bracer will recognize a nation's sovereignty, and may not interfere with nor arrest any person of national military or political standing."

영웅전설 하늘의 궤적 FC revealed, however, that there exists a loophole in the aforementioned policy as Article Two of the guild code states: "Bracers and Their Duty to the People. In the event of unjust imperilment of citizens, the bracer's sworn duty is to bear the responsibility for the citizen(s)' safety." This essentially forces bracers to act against a government official who is directly harming civilians if possible.

Liberl

Liberl has a friendly relationship with the bracer guild with branches open in all of its major cities: Grancel, Bose, Ruan, Rolent and Zeiss. The Royal Army of Liberl has not traditionally maintained a good relationship with the Bracer Guild due to Cassius Bright leaving the military in favor of the guild. However, this has changed during the events of 영웅전설 하늘의 궤적 SC following Cassius' return to the military as the organizations cooperate with increasing frequency.

Crossbell

The Crossbell Bracer Guild operates across the state from a main branch in East Street. Due to the actions of Arios MacLaine, they have a very positive reputation. They are apprehensive about the forming of the Special Support Section who seem to perform a very similar role, but grow to work cooperatively. The Crossbell branch was closed down following the annexation of Crossbell into Erebonia; however, the Empire stopped stonewalling the Guild after the Great War, resulting in the branch reopening as an imperial branch because Crossbell was still occupied at the time. Bracers in Crossbell typically work in pairs.

• Two more bracers, the Hero of Lightning (雷鳴の勇者) and the Ocean Monk (大海坊主), are mentioned by nickname by children in Crossbell's Armorica Village.

Erebonia

Erebonia historically had good relations with the Bracer Guild but their code and mission came into direct conflict with the aims and polices of Giliath Osborne who pursued the closure of Guild branches. Combined with the Assault on the Imperial Guilds, bracer presence was almost completely removed from the empire. They temporarily became active in the capital again following the October War, but were forcibly shut in preparation for the Great War. Following the end of the Great Twilight, the guilds are once again operational.

Two branches were operational in the capital, Heimdallr, on Vesta Street and Alto Street. Branches were also present in Alster, Saint-Arkh, and Legram, which was one of the few branches that did not close.

As bracers advance within their guild, they are assigned a "rank". Junior bracers, as shown in 영웅전설 하늘의 궤적 FC, advance from 9th Class to 1st Class before becoming senior bracers, by performing well in their training. Recommendations from five guild branches are also required. In Liberl's case, this means one from each of the five cities. Senior bracers, as shown in 영웅전설 하늘의 궤적 SC, may advance from G Rank to A Rank, due to their achievements.

• In 영웅전설 하늘의 궤적 SC, Estelle Bright's bracer rank ranges from G to A depending on the players thoroughness. During 영웅전설 하늘의 궤적 SC, 제8장 "혼미한 대지" when Estelle confronts Olivert Reise Arnor, she will proclaim her rank which causes Olivert to respond with different dialogue depending on her rank. Below are the different responses depending on her rank:
  • A-rank - "Ah, pardon me. From what I understand, A-rank bracers are among the most capable bracers alive. You will forgive me, but I find it a little difficult to believe that a young girl such as yourself could hold that rank."
  • B-rank - "Ah, I see, you're a bracer. Mmm, B-rank... That would make you a veteran bracer who could be trusted with an arbitration of this scope, but..."
  • C-rank - "Ah, I see, you're a bracer. C-rank means you are a bracer of some standing. Very well."
  • D-rank - "Ah, I see, you're a bracer. Hmm... Unless I am mistaken, the guild possesses seven ranks, G to A, does it not? How much trust can a mid-rank Liberlian bracer really be given here, I wonder?"
