Celdic (ディック), also known as Celdic, the Market Town (交易町ケルディック), is a town in the southeastern part of the Erebonian Empire. It is located in the Kreuzen Province and falls under the jurisdiction of House Albarea.

Background

Celdic is a small farming community that boasts a large number of crop fields. Due to its location as the center of a bustling agricultural industry, the town is also home to the Grand Market: a large, outdoor shopping center that serves as the economic center of the region. It is also a popular tourist attraction.

Background

In April S.1204, Class VII is notified of their first field study destination. Rean Schwarzer, Alisa Reinford, Elliot Craig and Laura S. Arseid are assigned to Celdic as Group A. Accompanied by Instructor Sara, they begin to work through their tasks.

At the end of the first day, Group A personally attempted to diffuse the situation regarding two merchants' conflicting stall permits, but was ultimately resolved with the return of Otto, the manager of the Grand Market. Otto tells Group A that the alleged purpose behind the incident was a strongarm tactic meant to bully the city merchants into accepting a tax increase proposed by the Albarea Dukedom.

On the next morning, they find the merchants fighting again after both of the merchants' stalls were destroyed, and all their goods taken. They intervene again, but the Kreuzen Provincial Army arrived and forcefully ended the dispute without investigating further.

Suspicious of the behavior of the Provincial Army, and of the strange nature of the merchant dispute, Group A takes it upon themselves to investigate the matter. After following a set of leads, they learn about a group of strange men dressed as park rangers carrying boxes during the night from the former ranger of Lunaria Nature Park, who was fired unexpectedly.

In the park, they find the fake rangers and the goods, and after a fight and the intervention of Claire Rieveldt and the RMP, Group A avoided arrest by the Provincial Army and returned to Celdic with the stolen goods. After returning, the field study is concluded, and Group A departs back to Trista after thanking Claire, Otto, and the people of Celdic for their assistance.

Background

During the onslaught of the civil war, Celdic was initially spared from the horrors of war, but the market went on the decline due to the restrictions made by the Noble Alliance. The people of Celdic also took in Machias Regnitz, Fie Claussell and Elliot Craig, who had gone into hiding after the events in Trista. Rean arrived at the town with Toval Randonneur at the start of December in search for the rest of Class VII, meeting Rosine and Becky before reuniting with Machias.

After the Noble Alliance loses the Twin Dragons Bridge to the 4th Armored Division with help from the Courageous, they retreat from Celdic to the Trista and Bareahard defense lines, leaving the town to receive the Imperial Army with open arms.

Hearing of this, Duke Albarea sent a group of his own Soldats together with Northern Jaegers to make an example out of the town in retaliation. After breaking through a gap in the Imperial lines, the group razed most of the town to terrorize the people, in the process killing Otto, the manager of the Grand Market. The Railway Military Police evacuated the town, but by the time the 4th Division arrived, the attacking forces had retreated to Bareahard.

The Courageous was notified the next day of the attack, and after witnessing the destruction, they agreed to a joint operation with the RMP and the 4th Division to arrest Duke Albarea. Rufus Albarea announced to them the disavowal of the duke, leaving him isolated at Aurochs Fort with no support from the Noble Alliance.

Following the arrest of the duke, Becky's father Lymon took charge in Otto's absence and rallied the townsfolk to restore the Grand Market despite being injured in the attack. Within days, he was able to reopen the market, albeit in a reduced capacity and with some merchants reassigned to usable stalls in the front due to the total destruction of the back half.

Northern War

By the time Lavian Winslet, Martin S. Robinson, Iseria Frost, and Talion Drake infiltrated the Empire, Celdic had recovered from the effects of the war and was once again bustling. Unaware that they had been discovered by the Intelligence Division, the infiltrators disembarked from the train hoping to go around the town before returning to North Ambria.

Upon leaving the station, they were ambushed by Lechter Arundel, who reveals their identities and Marty's involvement in Celdic's razing. After the squad refuses to return to the capital for interrogation, Millium and Altina Orion attempt to take them by force, causing them to flee to Lunaria Nature Park.
