The Sachsen Iron Mine (ザクセン鉄鉱山) is a mine owned by the Imperial Royal Family that provides most of the iron ore used for steel production in Erebonia.
Background
The Sachsen Iron Mine is a huge mine located in the mountains of Eisengard Range. The location was already used for iron mining for many centuries, with wars and theft for the ore being commonplace before the mine came under direct ownership of the Emperor during the Middle Ages. Although primarily owned by the Arnor family, they lease portions of it out to companies like the Reinford Group, though they still keep control of the mining quotas.
The mine supplies most of the Empire's iron needs, either as ore or processed into steel. In S.1160 a railway was built connecting the mine to Roer exclusively to transport the vast amount of iron mined for processing, making Roer and the Reinford Group prosper in both economy and technology.

Background
During Class VII's sixth field study, the mine was attacked and taken over by the Imperial Liberation Front, with the miners as hostages. The Nortia Provincial Army arrives first to blockade the mine, impeding the Railway Military Police from acting. After unsuccessfully trying to help, Group A meets with Angelica Rogner and George Nome as they arrive to discuss their findings about the mine.
The two and Towa Herschel deduced that iron ore was being diverted and had been for a few years. That information, coupled with the fact that Reinford's 1st Factory was directed by Heidel Rogner and the Noble Faction's alleged collaboration with the ILF, prompted Group A and the seniors to intervene and rescue the miners on their own, bypassing any interference by the Provincial Army. Learning of an underground passage from Irina Reinford, they infiltrated the mine.
After rescuing part of the miners, Crow escorted them back through the tunnel while the rest of Group A and Angelica continued deeper into the mine to rescue the rest. However, the passage ends up collapsing before he could return with the rest of the group. In the mine's open shaft control room, they find and confront the ILF and Vulcan, former jaeger and one of the ILF's leaders.

During their fight, C appears and interrupts them to confront Group A and Angelica by himself. They are able to defeat him this time, but he escapes again, boarding the ILF's airship. The RMP arrives and attempts to stop the airship, with the Provincial Army on their heels to stop them. Just as it seems the airship can fly away, a shot makes it explode and crash at the bottom of the shaft.
Prince Olivert arrives as well, demanding an investigation into the ILF's and the Provincial Army's actions, but the terrorists destroyed any evidence of the collaboration and the embezzlement of iron ore. With the apparent death of their leaders, the threat of the ILF was deemed over.
However, Crow Armbrust had staged the crash to fake their deaths and cover up his tracks, returning to the mine through the tunnel, fighting Group A and shooting the airship himself. The staged crash throws his pursuers off his trail long enough for him to successfully carry out his assassination of Giliath Osborne, with Millium and Rean realizing just too late to inform the RMP and the Intelligence Division.
The stolen iron ore was also used not to produce tanks, but for the 5th Division of Reinford to create the Pantagruel and the Panzer Soldats the Noble Alliance would use immediately after the assassination to invade and occupy Heimdallr.

영웅전설 섬의 궤적 II
Background
During the October War, the Sachsen Iron Mine is seized by the Noble Alliance to feed their war efforts through production of iron ore and kept secured by the Nidhoggr jaegers. After Heidel Rogner takes over the Reinford Group, he imprisons Irina Reinford in the Eisengraf, the chancellor's personal train seized by the alliance and hidden in the mine's freight station.
After infiltrating Roer, Class VII and Angelica head to the mine to free Irina, defeating the jaegers guarding the train with the help of Sharon Kreuger. They take the Eisengraf directly to the Reinford Building's freight station and confront Heidel Rogner. After his arrest and the Marquis' defeat and retirement from the Alliance, the mine and the Reinford factories return to normal operation.
