Basel Institute of Science (バーゼル理科大学) is a technical institute in 바젤, 칼바드.

Background

The Basel Institute of Science is a higher learning facility located in Basel, focused upon the sciences and engineering.It is the greatest technical institute in the republic. Middle-Eastern scholars have had a huge amount of influence over the Institute, with 라토야 해밀턴 counted amongst this number, one of the three great disciples of C. 엡스타인. They receive a great deal of investors from other countries. The institute and Craftsmen's Guild collaborated to create the 베른 사.

The institute itself is located on the highest tier of Basel, requiring a certain level of security clearance to access. It is one of the three major powers governing Basel, alongside the Verne Company and the Craftsmens' Guild. It is a popular tourist attraction, but a clearance card is needed to access the building. The round annex of the building is its astronomical observatory. There is also a conference room and a terminal room where the supercomputer Aurora is kept. They have a working relationship with the Motor Pavilion and are well acquainted.

The institute has an ethics board which ruled reactor weapons as taboo since the discovery of stable orbal technology. Other countries' institutes have done the same.

The Institute and Verne are working on two major projects, one including the 자이파 and another involved with national defence.

Verne Company

The Basel Institute of Science receives grants from the 베른 사 in exchange for research and development of their products. This partnerships ensures Verne incorporates cutting-edge technology and research into its products from industry leading experts at the Institute of Science. Projects the Institute of Science have undertaken with Verne include:

• RAMDA - 5th generation combat orbment developed with the 엡스타인 재단
• 자이파 - 6th generation combat orbment commissioned by President 로이 글램하트
• Development of a water management system in 살바드 that has been credited with driving the city’s current prosperity by directly contributing to the rise of the entertainment district. Led by Professor 라토야 해밀턴.
• Aurora - the central computer terminal powering Basel. Support for the project was given by Verne along with the Epstein Foundation, and 차이스 중앙 공방. Development was led by Professor Hamilton and Professor 데이빗 캘러핸
• Development of the last two generations of orbal weaponry for the Republican Army:
  • Previous generation: led by Professor David Callaghan

    • Baten-Kaitos airship
  • Current generation: led by Professor 얀 크롱카이트
    • Schedar tank series
    • Ix-Alba airship (co-developed with the Aldra Company)

Other Notable Partnerships

• Marduk Total Security Company - partnered with Professor 에스머레이 아체트 and the Bioengineering Department in researching/developing artificial bionic limbs - prosthetics that link directly to the user's nerves. Archette notes this research only at the prototype stage.
• 가우룽 그룹 - Professor Hamilton would design the Langport Trade Center and Luoxhou Bridge for the Kowloon Group. Construction would be undertaken by the Basel Artisans' Guild.
