9/26 (Sun) Field Study at Roer - Day 2 (PM)
  • We returned to a city in chaos. Sirens were wailing and smoke was billowing from a nearby military factory. We ran over there to see what was going on.
  • The workers fleeing the building told us that mechanical monsters had suddenly appeared inside.
  • There were still people in there, and with all the fire and explosions, we didn't really fancy their chances. We left evacuating the workers who had already escaped to the soldiers near the entrance and hurried inside to rescue the others.
  • Inside the building, we found one of the society's giant archaisms. After a battle in the roaring flames, it fell before us.
  • Soon after, the Railway Military Police hurried into the building, resolving the crisis and returning everything to normality.
  • Captain Claire sternly reprimanded us for acting so rashly, but did thank us for contributing to the crisis' resolution.
  • We were shocked to find out that everything that happened at the factory had been planned more than three months ago, most likely by the terrorists' leader, C.
  • While we were talking, one of the Railway Military Policemen relayed an urgent message was to Captain Claire: the terrorists had attacked the Sachsen Iron Mine.
  • Captain Claire and her men jumped into the armored car and took off toward the mine. We decided to follow suit on foot.
  • When we arrived at the iron mine, we found smoke pouring out of the building. It seemed as though the fire had already been extinguished.
  • The provincial army and Railway Military Police had gotten into yet another argument in front of the mine's entrance. Perverse curiosity inspired us to take a closer look.
  • It seems as though the provincial army got to the scene first and sealed off the entrance to the mine.
  • That struck us as more than a little suspicious. It was highly likely that they were working in concert with the terrorists, trying to destroy evidence connected to the Reinford 1st Factory.
  • We returned to the city, but while we were talking things over, Angelica and George arrived.
  • Angelica revealed what had been troubling her--the fact that the director of the 1st Factory, her uncle, has been putting iron ore onto the black market--enough of it to make two thousand Achtzehn battle tanks.
  • She seemed determined to to take this crisis into her own hands, but we volunteered to assist her.
  • Alisa proposed that ask her mother for some way to sneak into the mine. That sounded like a good idea to us, so we left for Reinford's corporate headquarters.
  • We spoke to the receptionist and had her ask the chairman to meet with us. She agreed and asked us to meet her in her office on the 23rd floor.
  • When we reached 23F, we were welcomed by Sharon, who guided us into the chairman's office. She didn't intend to do anything to resolve the situation herself, but was considering plans for all potential contingencies. Even in the face of serious human danger, she was thinking about the future of the Reinford Group.
  • Alisa confronted her mother directly, telling her that she was running the company the wrong way.
  • After hearing that, Irina gave us a card key that would allow us to access an emergency underground passage connecting the city and the iron mine.
  • Card key in hand, we called Angelica and set off for the entrance to the underground passage. George volunteered to stay behind and support us, and stay in contact with Towa, who would also be assisting us.
  • Our plan in place, we made our way to the Sachsen Iron Mine.
  • We finally reached the end of the long underground passage and climbed the ladder leading up to the iron mine.
  • We made it to the sealed mine shaft that we visited yesterday and got a call from George.
  • He told us that the Railway Military Police is gathering forces in Roer and in Ordis to prepare to take action. Time was definitely not on our side. We needed to hurry.
  • We made it to the surface, successfully reaching the other side of the provincial army's blockade, and continued deeper into the mine.
  • We defeated two more large archaisms that tried to stop us, eventually coming to a door.
  • We rescued a number of miners who were being held hostage, but other hostages, including the chief, were taken to the central control room further in.
  • Crow volunteered to take the miners we rescued back to the city on his own, so we accepted his offer and moved on without him.
  • We heard a tremor, and soon after received a call from Crow. Apparently there was a cave-in, making it difficult for him to meet back up with us. We were down a teammate, but we kept going.
  • When we reached the entrance to the central control room, George gave us another call to tell us that Towa wanted to speak with us.
  • He put her through and she told us that His Majesty the Emperor had given the Railway Military Police official permission to investigate the mine--meaning that it wouldn't be long before Captain Claire and her men forced their way inside.
  • We knew we were running out of time to save the remaining hostages, so we took a deep breath and moved into the central control room ahead of us.
  • Inside the control room, we found Vulcan, one of the key members of the Imperial Liberation Front.
  • Talking with him, it became clear that his hatred for the chancellor ran deeper than we could have possibly imagined. After announcing his desire to create a flame hot enough to burn through blood and iron, he charged at us, ready for battle. We had no choice but to fight back with everything we had.
  • We managed to repel him, but he must have been holding back against us. Just before he could reveal his true power, though, C appeared and fought us alongside two archaisms to buy his allies time to escape.
  • We were able to defeat them, but C caused the two archaisms to self-destruct and was gone in a flash.
  • Moments later, an Imperial Liberation Front airship appeared from below us. The Railway Military Police hurried in and started firing at it, but their bullets did nothing to stop its ascent towards the ceiling.
  • Suddenly, it exploded...with the Imperial Liberation Front members still on it. We watched in stunned silence as pieces of it fell into the ground.
  • Shortly afterward, Prince Olivert arrived and took control of the scene.
