영웅전설 섬의 궤적 환상의 초기설정화집 ~「섬」의 원점~

The Origin of Sen (英雄伝説 閃の軌跡 幻の初期設定画集 ～「閃」の原点～) is an extra appendix that was bundled with Sen no Kiseki Magazine, Volume 3. It features the character sheets and initial character designs of characters appearing in 영웅전설 섬의 궤적.

What we followed and changed since Sen no Kiseki's starting point

Sen is only the third arc within Kiseki series, but the mood of its development was completely different. The setting was decided on in an earlier stage than with Sora or Zero and Ao, of which is led into II, III and soon IV virtually unchanged. As you may see among the character sheets for sub characters, Thomas' weapon was already set as the Partition and the Ironbloods Rufus and Claire appear as if they foreshadow what is yet to come. We did not overturn our initial decisions for Sen all that much and continued without wavering. On the contrary, however, looking at the character sheets of the Original Class VII I do feel they changed...but in the sense that they grew up and matured. In particular Rean, who seems very undefined compared to his character now. Maybe it was among ourselves at the time that the protagonist Rean felt blurred. The Origin of Sen as the character sheets contain our ideas of that time, what we followed, and what we changed. Please try to get that feeling from his initial concept artbook.

『閃の軌跡』の原点として踏襲されたものと変化したもの

『閃』は『軌跡』として3つめのシリーズなだけあり、開発の雰囲気が全然異なるものでした。『空』や『零』『碧』に比べると早い段階で設定が決まり、そのほとんどが変わることなく『Ⅱ』や『Ⅲ』.. そして『Ⅳ』へとつながっています。サブキャラクターの設定を見ていただければわかるように、この時点でトマス（P.18参照）の使用武器が"厘"となっているほか、《鉄血の子供達》のクレア（P.16参照）とルーファス（P.17参照）は、この先を暗示するかのような表情になっていますよね。それだけ『閃』で最初に決めたことをひっくり返さず、ブレることなく進められました。逆に《旧VII組》のメンバーの設定画を見返すと変化した……というより、成長していったんだなあと感じます。とくにリイン (P2参照）は、今見るとすごくぼやけて見えますね。僕らのなかでも、当時はまだまだリインという主人公像がぼやけていたのかもしれません。『閃』の原点となる設定画として、そのとき考えて踏襲されていったもの、そして変化していったもの。それらをこの初期設定画集から感じとってみてください。
