The Pope (法王), addressed as Her Holiness the Pope (法王猊下), is the leader of the Zemuria-wide Septian Church.

Background

Currently little is known about the Pope. She is known to pass judgement over proposals submitted by the Congregations, such as the appointment of a new Dominion.

It's revealed during The History of a Certain Saint that Rufina Argent took a then 4 year old Nina Fenly back to Arteria to meet with her grandmother, Pope Orestis II (オレスティス II) as the Apocrypha had inscrypted that a saint would appear shortly before the end of the world. After meeting with the Nina, the Pope kept Nina at the garden of tranquility at the papal palace behind the main cathedral. In S.1204, she said goodbye to Nina When she was 14 as she left for Calvard to be raised by an Eastern merchant.

In December S.1204, she overrules the decree of Archbishop Eralda that no member of the Gralsritter may enter Crossbell State. Dominion Kevin Graham is granted permission to operate within Crossbellan borders.

Ouroboros

At one point in time, the Pope has made an agreement with the Grandmaster of Ouroboros regarding their activities in Crossbell: the Pope would forbid knights from entering the state and the Grandmaster would not dispatch Enforcers in the area.

The agreement, however, stands only in principle; early S.1202 Dominion Wazy Hemisphere entered the area disguised as the head of a delinquent group and mid S.1204, prior to the West Zemuria Trade Conference and execution of the Azure-Zero Project as the first phase of the Phantasmal Blaze Plan, Enforcer No. 0 Campanella infiltrated into Crossbell.

Trivia

• Similar to Latoya Hamilton, the Pope was originally localised to be male in previous games due to her title being ambiguous in regard to her gender. This was because the "猊下" part of "法王猊下" could be translated as "your eminence/grace".
