The Dark Ages (
Background
The Dark Ages are known for the constant formation and usurpation of small countries. It was a period marked by bloodshed and poverty[1]and noted for its loss of culture and technology.
There are still a number of constructions built during the Dark Ages to be found in Zemuria, such as:
- Grancel Cathedral in Liberl
- The Spirit Shrines, built by the Gnomes after the Great Collapse
- The catacombs beneath Calvard's former royal capital Oración
- Heimdallr Cathedral in Erebonia and its former capital (known now as the Heimdallr Catacombs) built during the first Century below the current Heimdallr
- The Sanctuary of the Dark Dragon, hidden within a phase space in the Heimdallr Catacombs.
- The aqueduct in the Imperial capital's Heimdallr#Leica District
- Ruins of Nebel Valley's eastern mountains
- The Tharbad Underground Waterway, dated using mural evidence
- Liberl's four Tetracyclic Towers
- Several ruins on Nemeth Island
- Circular stone huts, reminiscent of igloos, on Bryonia Island, once inhabited by animist settlers
- The Ancient Quarry, built in the Nord Highlands by its Neolithic Civilization
- Neolithic Stone Circles, found both in Nord and Creil
- Juno Naval Fortress in the Lamare Province of Erebonia
- The labyrinth beneath the Old Schoolhouse of Thors Military Academy
Organizations with roots dating back to this period include:
- The Septian Church
- The Order of the Moonlight Horse
- The Orlando berserkers
- The Hexen Clan, successor to the Kin of Fire
- The Gnomes, successor to the Kin of Earth
During this period, Black Alberich gave the mages of Erebonia the knowledge needed to create autonomous golems known as Magic Knights in order to counter the powers of a Divine Knight. The powerful quartz-like gemstones known as Lost Arts were also created during the Dark Ages.

- Gargoyles, such as Iglute Garmr and Gargou Roume
- Black Widows
Weapons and styles from this time period include:
- Comrade C's double saber was identified as "a relic from the Dark Ages" by Laura S. Arseid.
- The double-edged throwing sabers used by Kurogane
- The Black God One Blade school of swordsmanship, also known as the 'Sword of Darkness', originating in the Far East and passed down for a thousand years
