수첩
- 8/28 (Sat) Field Study at Legram - Day 1
- I was given a rude awakening by a far-too-energetic Millium, and shambled towards the lobby where the others were gathering. ...Jusis followed along shortly after, looking exhausted after presumably being woken up in the same way as I was.
- Once we'd pieced our tired brains back together, we headed over to the station.
- We saw Group B off as they boarded their train to the Jurai SEZ and bought our tickets to Legram.
- As we approached the ticket gate, we were stopped by Lechter of the Intelligence Division. He said he'd come to see Millium before he left for Crossbell, but he's an intelligence agent--who knows what he was REALLY up to?
- We bade farewell to him and boarded the train for Legram, where Laura gave gave us a regional rundown.
- As part of the Kreuzen province, Legram has kind of an awkward relationship with Jusis' family.
- It sounded as though Viscount Arseid would be away from town while we're there, which was disappointing, as I really wanted to meet him.
- We changed trains at Bareahard and started noticing more and more mist outside the windows of the train until we finally reached Legram itself.
- We were greeted by the Arseid family's butler, Klaus, who guided us to Viscount Arseid's mansion, showing us some of the town's sights in the process.
- After marveling at the beautiful scenery, we were told that we would need to go to the Bracer Guild in Legram to collect our field study tasks.
- Unlike the guild branches in Heimdallr, the Legram guild is still active.
- When we arrived, were greeted by Toval, the bracer who we met during our field study in Bareahard.
- It turns out he was the one who chose our tasks for this month. Once we had the list in our hands, we jumped in with both feet.
- We needed to go to the training hall in town for one of the mandatory tasks and exterminate a monster for the other. We were just hoping we'd have a chance to fulfill the townsfolk's requests in the middle of it all.
- The highway to the north of town was shrouded in mist, so had to be careful with our footing.
- Once we'd defeated the monster on the highway, we went back to the guild and told Toval.
- We fulfilled the request at the training hall. Klaus saw right through me, too... Either way, it was good experience for all of us.
- We finished all of our requests just as the sun went down and stopped in at the guild to report.
- When we returned to the guild, we found Laura's father, Viscount Arseid, waiting there for us. It sounded as though he'd just gotten back to Legram.
- That night, we were treated to dinner at Viscount Arseid's mansion. During our dinner conversation, the viscount mentioned that something 'terrifies me so much that its mere shadow pins me in place'--a fact that I couldn't deny.
- I gathered my resolve and asked him for a duel. At the time, I thought that being able to test my skills against the famous Radiant Blademaster might give me a clue as to how to get over my fear and move forward with my life.
- From the beginning, it was clear I didn't stand a chance against him, and I was quickly knocked to the ground. Just as he was about to bring his sword down upon me...the power that sleeps within me came roaring to the surface.
- I charged him like a wild beast, but I was still no match against his skill and his overwhelming power.
- Fighting him allowed me to realize something important--that I shouldn't deny the existence of any part of myself. Instead of being paralyzed, I should walk forward, overcoming my fear every time it tries to stop me.
- 8/29 (Sun) Field Study at Legram - Day 2
- We awoke to a beautiful blue sky, with no traces of the mist that filled the town the previous day. Lohengrin Castle was easily visible from the shore, too.
- I talked everyone about the beast-like power within me, and the way I'd feared it since I was a child. Yesterday's duel allowed me to take the first steps towards conquering that fear, and I feel like talking to everyone about it helped.
- We visited the guild to get a second salvo of requests from Toval. He told us he'd have more work for us in the afternoon, so we decided to knock out as many requests as we could, saving the monster extermination for last.
- We fulfilled the monster extermination request... but the mechanical monster that we defeated seemed a little off. We decided to ask Toval about it.
- We returned to Legram, only to find it crawling with soldiers from the Lamare Provincial Army. Toval noticed us and informed us that a high-ranking noble had come to visit Viscount Arseid.
- While we had his ear, we told him about the mechanical monster we defeated. He said he'd check its remains personally, just to be safe, but that we should go to the Arseid manor.
- The noble visiting Viscount Arseid turned out to be Duke Cayenne, head of the foremost of the Four Great Houses. Shortly after we arrived, he departed with his bodyguards in tow.
- According to Viscount Arseid, the Noble Faction has been increasingly active behind closed doors in the last month, and the purpose of Duke Cayenne's visit was to try to bring him into the faction.
- Not only that, but Jusis' brother, Rufus, was here in town to pick up the duke.
- Viscount Arseid decided to reach out to all of the nobles who chose to remain neutral in the conflict, and after hearing Toval's report, the two of them left the mansion together.
- We received our work for the afternoon and were left in charge of the guild for the rest of the day. But with only half of the day left, we wanted to make sure that we did everything right.
- We returned to the guild and started filing everything away. Gaius mentioned that he thought bracers were a necessary part of people's lives.
- Jusis, however, disagreed, saying that the Bracer Guild was far too idealistic for its own good. I don't think things are as simple as either of their perspectives, though.
- While we were talking, a girl from town rushed in, clearly in a panic. Two boys from Legram had gone into Lohengrin Castle and had yet to return.
