아티팩트

Artifacts (古代遺物(アーティファクト)) are mysterious relics, like vessels or staffs, unearthed from Ancient Zemurian civilisation ruins pre-dating the Great Collapse. The Septian Church tasked itself with the retrieval of these artifacts.

Backgrounds

Artifacts are essentially ancient orbments created by the ancient civilisations of Zemuria and capable of demonstrating power that exceeds the bounds of human comprehension. Artifacts are the models for all orbments produced today. They are generally found in ruins across the continent. Although they run on orbal energy just like contemporary orbments, they are operated differently and cannot yet be properly analysed with post-Orbal Revolution technologies. Singularities such as Elysium are capable of reproducing them or their powers if they have access to an original.

The Septian Church has defined artifacts as "premature gifts from the Goddess" and, through its Congregation for the Sacraments, it claims responsibility for the artifacts' collection and control.

• AZOTH, one of at least three Causality Recording Engines that observed and recorded causality.
• Apeiron, a holy demonic sword wielded by Gerard Dantès; it can only be used by those with Eldarion blood like him and has the capability to trigger highly destructive nuclear weapons.
• The Black Records, documents derived from AZOTH's observations that predicted the future up until S.1206.
• The Bells of Crossbell, a series of bells with multiple effects, including amplifying Azure Demiourgos' power and altering space within the reach of their sound.
• The Chronos Rod, capable of paralyzing individuals other than the holder.
• The Demonic Flute, able to animate the dead and control monsters.
• The Eternal Kandelaar causes the higher three elements to become active in regions where they ordinarily are not present.
• The Fangs of Rahu, the suit of armor and halberd wielded by Arioch that granted him incredible combat skill and greatly extended his lifespan.
• The Fool's Locket (愚者のロケット) allows its wearer to tell all but the most obvious lies convincingly.
• The Gospels, a series of orbment-like devices that link with and extend the reach of the Aureole's powers.
• The Heavenly Chariot (天の車) served as the basis for the Merkabah ships used by the Dominions.
• Ishtanti (イシュタンティ), a Platinum gold doll used as a weapon by Olympia that only she can hear the voice of, worshiped as a messenger of God. It has the ability to act autonomously and seal emotions.
• The Monarch's Regalia, a set of four linked artifacts granting the bearer control over gravity.
• The Recluse Cube allows direct manipulation of Phantasma.
• The Ring of Judgement (審判の指環) confronts its wearer with the sins from their consciousness.
• The Ring of Relief (救済の指輪) heals the wounds of its wearer.
• The Silver Dew Orb (銀露の宝珠) warns its owners of upcoming perils.
• A silver magic rifle, wielded by Ixs, which allows the wielder to pull off shots from angles that shouldn't be physically possible.
• The Spear of Loa, a broken spear that transforms its wielder into a monster.
• The Sonorous Seashell enables encrypted long-range communication.
• The Spectral Moon Mirror, a scrying pool linked to AZOTH that grants revelations.
• The Tetracyclic Towers, four machines that act to seal Aureole outside of normal space.

• A "tablet of blue stone" capable of sapping vitality from the people in its vicinity, previously worshiped in the tribe Wazy Hemisphere grew up in.
• A flute used by the leader of Libra Domina capable of summoning and controlling monsters.
• The bombs wielded by Melchior that he can create endlessly.
• The dagger used by Melchior.
• An unspecified artifact that was capable of preserving the souls of those who died with intense grudges. Possessed by the D∴G Cult, later passed down to the the Gardens, known to possess the soul of Auguste Aldan.

Trivia

• During the side quest involving the Eternal Kandelaar in 영웅전설 섬의 궤적 III, it was revealed that Professor C. Epstein was one of the few people that knew how artifacts could work.
