(Magisa에서 넘어옴)

Magisa (マギサ婆さん) is a counterfeit dealer active across Zemuria.

Profile

Appearance

Magisa is an elderly woman with short, gray hair and brown eyes. She typically wears a pink striped cardigan with an indigo collar and a blue skirt over grey pants.

Personality

When dealing with unsuspecting customers Magisa acts like a kind lady, but the moment her cover is blown she quickly loses her temper, yelling at anyone interfering with her various plans. Cunning and stubborn, she refuses to let any setbacks stop her from doing what fullfills her; scamming people, and making them look like fools. Despite her age, she's quick on her feet, thanks in part to the mountain climbing she used to do in her youth.[1]

Quest appearances

Trails from Zero

During Crossbell's Anniversary Festival a support request has Donovan brief the SSS on a counterfeit dealer who, according to intel, soon enters the state at the border to Calvard.

First appearance

The group is assigned to Tangram Gate where they talk to the arriving passengers, including a mysterious woman and an unassuming Magisa. She claims to be visiting a grandchild she went to Mishelam with 3 years ago. During the final bus ride to Crossbell City Lloyd ponders the statement, and then points out to her the theme park didn't yet exist back then, causing her to get nervous.

Then, suddenly, she snaps, repeatedly insults the group, and at last dashes towards East Street in hopes of shaking them off. Thanks to the nearby Kilika who seemed to wait for her chance, Magisa is finally caught, though Donovan later admits state law forbids him from detaining her for long.

Trails to Azure

Raymond requests the SSS to help him catch a certain counterfeit dealer trying to leave Crossbell by train.

At the train station they face Magisa talking to another fraudster. Lloyd remains calm, stating they can now apprehend her due to recent changes in state law, but she throws a fit and once again tries to make an escape. With all the exits guarded, however, she's forced to jump onto a departing train bound for Calvard. The group as well as a reluctant Raymond jump after her. Inside the moving train two of Cao's subordinates talk to members of the anti-immigration faction. They were about to subdue them when suddenly Magisa tries dashing past them. They don't notice her warning in time, and are knocked out upon impact. Magisa is quick to catch on, asking the terrorists to repay her by fighting her own pursuers atop the train.

Despite all her efforts, the SSS defeats them, and, once in Altair, she is handed over to the Republican Army. As she's taken away Magisa proclaims in her loudest voice she will have her revenge. Lloyd can't help but feel that wasn't the last time she stirs up trouble.

Trails into Reverie

Localized catchphrase

Through a joint operation in Crossbell City Machias and Dudley get to know each other as they learn that recently their favorite coffee, among a number of other goods, has mysteriously vanished during delivery. The two team up, and find out about the culprit thanks to Pete, Grimwood's former assistant. He shares files with them that Grace Lynn has been digging through. They detail the counterfeit dealer cases the SSS solved in the past.

At night in the Harbor District Magisa and Minnith discuss their current cooperation. They sell cheap knockoffs of products they cut off from store's supplies. Machias and Dudley arrive on the scene prepared, and swiftly deal with the both of them. Magisa shouts her catchphrase and tries to escape alone on boat, but Machias reveals he had its engine tinkered with. Both her and Minnith get arrested.

Trails through Daybreak

Recently Magisa has been lying low in the Blacklight District where she mentions her temporary break from "work" as well as her relentless desire for revenge on the police and SSS.[2]

During Kilika's visit to the district she remembers her and her title.

Trails through Daybreak 2

At Trion Mall a pair of men sell pedestrians old, cheap Enigmas they tweak to appear like tPhones. Swin, Nadia and Elaine accept a victim's request, gain a crucial clue from Liberl Boutique's clerk, and confront the sellers. The two temporary spriggans pretend to be a wealthy couple eager to spend mira. Their trick works, and the delighted men leave to retrieve the wares.

The three shadow them until they reach their underground base where the men's boss, Magisa, waits. When the group confronts her she makes her minions and dogs from Zecht Arms fight them. After losing she tries to make a run for it, but ultimately fails when she notices Nadia's steel threads blocking her sole exit. Magisa as well as her accomplices get tied up and then handed over to either Marduk or the guild.

Later she can be found in Old Town, mumbling next to Gin about the high bail that was needed to free her. Gin furiously reprimands her, saying she's been the same for 50 years. Back in the Blacklight District she at one point sits with Rosalie to propose a partnership.

Trails beyond the Horizon

Early on Magisa sits at a table in the Blacklight District, talking to herself about how Edith would be unwise as the location for her next scam. When the group asks her about the district's kingpin she's been indebted to for a long time, they suddenly appear, but not before Magisa runs off.

In Tharbad's casino customers start noticing a number of fake medals in circulation. Troubled, the casino owner places a request.

Most recent appearance

The group starts to investigate, and, thanks to Jack and Halle's connections, manages to find Magisa selling someone her knockoffs at a nearby Maximum Energy event. After a tiring pursuit she's finally cornered. Furious about the fact the same two are getting in the way of her plans yet again, she reveals her trump card; a modified Xipha from Zecht Arms she uses Chrono Drive with. She runs off at an unbelievable speed. Everyone is taken aback, but through a trick of their own, as well as the shard search, the group eventually finds her on the highway at the car she uses for storing her wares. They burn it down, and, with her Xipha rendered useless, she once more runs away, now back to Edith. Tired, and busy with other work, the group decides to let her go, leaving the matter to Van.

Trivia

In Azure she first uses what turns out to be her catchphrase she often says slight variations of when trying to escape: 「この大陸の続く限り……全てはアタシの逃げ場たりえるのさ!」 (As long as there's this continent, it shall do for my escape!)
