Executors are autonomous, self-propagating mechanical lifeforms described as “paradoxical phenomena." They are controlled by the Vestiges using Alter Cores and assist in spreading the influence of the A∴D Cult (Alter Dawn). Their existence defies modern scientific understanding and are believed to originate from anomalies caused by severe disruptions in space-time.

Nature & Purpose

Executors appear as mechanical organisms—structures composed of machinery arranged in ways that resemble biological systems. Because of this unusual combination of mechanical and biological characteristics, they are often described as mechanical lifeforms.

It’s speculated that Executors are composed of organic nanomachines, a hypothetical future technology where microscopic machines are capable of imitating the biological processes of living cells such as self-replication. Such technology is considered purely theoretical and is believed to be far beyond the capabilities of present-day science.

Through the spread of organic nanomachines, Executors can ‘contaminate’ living beings, affecting both humans and monsters. This phenomenon is referred to by the CID as the e-Factor. The contamination appears to influence the behavior and physiology of those affected, though its full effects remain unclear. The CID’s cautious response to the phenomenon suggests they possess some understanding of the situation, yet have chosen to avoid direct interference.

According to René Kincaid, Vestiges and related e-Factor contamination events exist due to temporal disturbances triggered by the looming threat to the Cradle of Time. He describes them as: “Fluctuations that emerged in response to the prospect of the Cradle’s destruction… aftershocks from the past and future.”

It is presumed the Vestiges utilize the ability of their personal Executors to propagate independently and interact with living organisms to influence people to create the A∴D Cult. In some cases, individuals who are contaminated become Demi-Executors, variants possessing more human traits than the typical Executor. This process occurs in Jeffrey Valentino and one of the Devancy Brothers.

Abilities

Executors possess several notable abilities:

Autonomous Propagation – They can reproduce and spread independently.
Contamination – They infect humans and monsters through organic nanomachines known as the e-Factor.
Stealth – Executors can remain invisible until their concealment systems are disabled.
Regeneration – Capable of regenerating severed body parts.
Space-Time Leaps – A form of instantaneous teleportation that differs from Eastern Dunjia techniques or the Society’s translocation methods. These disregard the usual laws of causality and conservation of mass, allowing them to travel freely between locations. During leaps the user effectively ceases to exist in the world for a brief moment before reappearing elsewhere.
